Dont worry, I dont think that. I was browsing a forum today, when I saw a topic title that was the same as the one I put here today. I signed up just to tell him off. He says, "Racism is still alive. All white people hate us."
That's not true at all. I have a whole bunch of caucasion friends, and black friends, and we dont have a problem. Sure, their is that racial joke that pops up every so often, but we all know that we are friends, and we definatly dont hate eachother.
Then, the user goes on to say that they hate us because we rap and stuff.
Not only black people rap, I pointed out. Emeniem raps. Usher doesnt rap, he signs R and B, which the user said was White People Music. Ironic that his username was UsherRulez. -_-'

I don't get racism. I just don't get it. The only difference is purely aesthetic, and I think black guys are hotter. I know people who claim not to be racist but say the could 'never date a black guy'. I don't get it. Somebody explain it or something.

People tend to try to date within color. Not always, though. And if people say they could "never date a black guy", in some cases it could just mean they're not as attracted to that race as other races. Not in every single case, I know... but being attracted to a certain race is like being attracted to a certain body type or voice pitch.

People tend to try to date within color. I wouldn't say that. Personally my dating list is equal. But it is true, racism is still beating alive (so is sexism, but that's irrelevent). And it's not always just 'white people' doing it to black, I've been called a 'white (insert bad word here)' or so. What annoys me is I was watching SBS and there's this Australian show called, 'Living Black' and it's all with aboriginals reporting issues that face aborigines. This show is entriely acceptable, but if there where a show called, 'Living White' with the opposite, that would be racsist. (By the way, that was just an exaple, even though it's true, so don't stab me ;D) And as Mumbadumal said, going for the same race is like going for a certain voice pitch. Why any one would bother being racsist, is completey beyond me. Why can't people get along, just cause she has a nicer complection that yours is by no means an excuse to bully her. Tsk tsk, you would think society wsa over the whole colour thing, but suprisingly we still have the same concepts as centuries ago.

It's a completely made-up holiday to celebrate "being black". They do stuff like only shop at black owned stores. What if we had a holiday about being white? And only shopped at white owned stores? It would be an outrage. *grumbles*

Hmmm...but white people have such a heavy debt to repay still. Centuries of slavery don't just go away. While there is an admitted double standard, and a lot of racism against whites by blacks goes unpunished, there are still anti-black racists (who generally are also anti-, say, Pakistani) and believe me, they are the foulest people on earth. I can direct you to a site that will make you cry with rage and disgust, if you like. But I suggest you don't like.
(My skin is a pleasant honey colour, for the record...)

I think that racism results from a natural instinct to fear the unknown, to fear those who are strange or different. This instinct must have been useful at some point, but nowadays we don't need it anymore. Racism is entirely pointless, as there isn't a lot of genetic difference between races anyway.
The double standard mentioned earlier is sort of an overcompensation for the days of slavery and segregation, and I think the same goes for "affirmative action"--the way companies try to employ a certain quota of minorities to be "fair". Personally, I think that affirmative action is a bad idea, and companies should just hire whoever is qualified regardless of race or gender.
There are some people whom I dislike who just happen to be of different races, but I also dislike some members of my own race. And in case anyone's curious, I'm white.

Or is that just me? ( not making fun, i'd like to have a great tan) Last I heard in Science, it was because they originated in the hottest, sunniest regions of the world, and black skin absorbs it better (although I understand that it can leave black people with a vitamin D deficiency). In the less sunny parts of the world - mainly the north - people had much paler skin. Of course, everyone's mixed up now. Anyway, racism is stupid, but I must admit I do hate the double-standard and the culture among young black people that I see today. I'm extremely sorry to say this, but alot of the worst thugs and louts in our school are black. Of course, some of the better people are also black, and there are obviously awful white people as well, but the majority of the troublemakers are black, and it does disappoint me. For the record, I have extremely pale skin often tinged with red, as I understand is the norm among red-haired pale-skinned people. I'm, like, the next step up from albino.

At my school, their is also a common use of the word 'ooh aah just a little bit' which I'll only use here, and afterwards refer to it as the n-word. If a white person says, "What up my n-word" then the blacks at our school are ready to fight. But if a blackperson says it to another blackperson, it's cool. That word was used to insult them, so to me, it's sort of like....insulting eachother.
