Was it unfair? Is there still a way she could've lived? After giving birth to Beatrice, the Baudelaires could've gave her a quick piece of an apple...though that's just my opinion.

Guess not. If they could, they would have saved her.

You know, you completely undermined the point of adding 'SPOILER' to your title if the spoiler is already in it.

I swear that has got to be the lamest fictional death ever... how could the apples possibly have that effect? I have a theory that perhaps Kit made it up... perhaps she guessed that Dewey was dead based on the Baudelaire's actions and prevented them from saving her so that if it was true, she wouldn't have to continue her life, which she would have to do, because, being the mother of a newborn, it would be hard for her to justify suicide. She probably guessed that Beatrice would be born before her death so she didn't feel that bad about putting her in danger, and if it appeared as though she would not make it, she'd eat an apple to save her child, but that would only be if Beatrice was in danger, because Kit isn't a horrible mother.... and now, thanks to her brilliant plan, Kit does not have to go on with her wretched life.... the end

I think that Olaf migh have felt guilty for bringing the spores of the fungus on the island, if he really loved her.. I never thought that she could/was lying..the quote," I cannot go on. I've lost too many people" (page 307) foreshadows it. But still, I can't say I completely agree because (in my opnion), Kit seems like the volunteer who doesn't give up (she doubted the plan in TPP would work, but still tried it).

Kit's death was extremely contrived, but necessary to bring about the ending scenario in Chapter Fourteen. Quite possibly by the time the baby's birth was complete, Kit's body was already too damaged both from the Medusoid Mycelium poisoning and the act of childbirth, and she only had mere seconds left, if that. In fact, Kit could simply have died in childbirth - as it is, we got what is a slightly more "convincing" situation that had been foreshadowed a chapter or two earlier. The poison apple's an important icon, too, anyway - you can construe some thematic significance, such as that Kit's loss of innocence and immersion in the dark and dangerous adult world rendered her unable to live in Paradise, for example.

I think that wouldn't be possible. Giving her the apple after having the baby, it will not cure her the minute she eats it.
