I would not mind uniforms. My mom, who went to a Catholic school, had to wear uniforms, but then that changed (either she changed schools or they changed policy or something), and it was a big hassle for her. She was used to just having one thing to wear, so to have the choice made it more complicated for her. The other thing about uniforms is that with them, people don't get made fun of for what they're wearing, because everyone's wearing the same thing. Not to mention the fact that it's more modest, I really don't go to school to see how much more skin other girls can manage to show and not be kicked out.
And anyways, the school does have the right to tell you what to wear while you're on their property. Whether it's for safety reasons or appearance reasons or whatever, it's their decision.

Here in England most, if not all, schools wear uniform.
All the kids go round moaning after they've seen an American-based film, saying how they wish WE could wear whatever we wanted.
But I actually don't mind uniform, even though it does annoy me sometimes, especcially my blazer. But thats what makes non-uniform day fun; You can wear anything then and help some charity the school are buzzing off at the time.

my school was trying to rais 14 million dollars with a penny holder thing and huge annual donations so they could build on to it but the money for non uni days usually goes to poor kids in trenton, nyc, or hospitals and stuff. i dont get why we have to pay extra for jeans...probably cos thats what most kids wear

I don't think hats are ever allowed in school, though I've never been sure of the reason.
The thing about paying extra to wear jeans is rather wacky, though.

i don't mind goth music but i wouldn't consider being one. They look quite patronizing but in the inside there probably nice normal people

we aren't allowed to wear flip flops which is really stupid cos they say that non-uni days we go with the upper school dress code adn they're allowed to wear flip flops. we aren't allowed to wear hats or tank tops or tube tops or halters but i think thats the way it is at all schools in my area. theres this one really strict school adn if they dont like the way we dress at a dance they'll call the head mistress adn tell her that we were dressing in appropriately adn all the other schools could care less
