Well, the title says it for itself... does anyone know of books that are similar to the Basic Eight? It was an awesome book, needless to say, but since DH doesn't seem to have any books under his own name in the near future...

But not in the near future; we've no idea when his next book under his own name will come out, or even what it'll be called (although we know what it's about). That's not the topic here, though.
Insane teen murderers? The Basic Eight is maybe like a more grown-up, much more erudite Point Horror, but I can't really think of anything comparable to it. I don't know of anywhere where he specifically takes about his influences for TB8, too; by the time people started interviewing him about things like that, he'd rather moved on in his career. It depends in what way you mean "similar"; same sort of setting and plot, or something that just feels like a Daniel Handler book?
