I hate Twilight. I LOVE Harry Potter. I mean, someone who hates Harry Potter must go to the mental hospital NOW. And probably the only people who hate Harry Potter are Protestant fanatics who think that using magic for the cause of good is still a sin. Probably we Catholics like HP more than other Christian denominations. HEY! im a christian and i love harry potter! (magic IS evil, because if they didnt get it from God, they got it from the devil, because i seriously doubt God would bless voldemort with miraculous powers, if you know what i mean . but God CAN use evil things to produce good things, like the other unintentionally-doing-evil-witchcraft- people ;D Although it is possible for witches to go to heaven, because God can forgive anything )

Seriously, Ivey? Seriously?
There is no religious discussion in Harry Potter, and it wasn't God that blessed witches and wizards with magic, nor was it the Devil. There is no canon reference to that being the case whatsoever, and discussing on whether on not magic is 'evil' in a religious context is not only a waste of time, as it a waste of breath. Please, leave religious discussion to the Disturbing Discussions thread.
I respect you for being a Christian, but's let's not exaggerate, ok?
Peace!

hate to break it to you, but there is christian symbolism written all in harry potter, especially the last book. J.K. Rowling is christian herself, which she reveal after the series; she thought people would read right through the plot if they knew she was Presbyterian ( i am Presbyterian too) ^^

This topic is dead but I'll say my opinion anyways. Harry Potter is my favorite series, hands down. Jo is a great, interesting writer and the series isn't actually repetitive. Someone said that they didn't like it from the fifth on but I have to say that those are some of my very favorite books of the series. I love the darker vibe, I mean Cedric just died and Voldemort is back! How can it not be the least bit gloomy? I like how ther series matures as it goes on, the books get longer and more in-depth and the characters are facing more danger and sticky situations. I also love the characters, they give the series a nessasary dose of comic relief in times it's needed. I could ramble on and on but I don't think many people would listen.
