The book is being released on September 30th. Who is getting it? This is the cover. It doesn't really give a synopsis of the story on Harper Collins. It just says the story is about a lump of coal who can talk.

The story was originally published in USA Weekend Magazine around the time that the ASoUE movie was released. I had no idea that The Lump of Coal was going to be published in book format, and I for one would love to get it. Here's a link to the site with the story for anyone who's interested: www.usaweekend.com/04_issues/041212/041212lemony_snicket.html

It's like the Upcoming Books thread doesn't even exist... I don't think it's being released in the U.K., so I imagine I'll have it imported as a Christmas gift. I'm hoping it will have been in some way expanded from the original magazine version, as it seems like just about everyone involved loses out if it's just a straight publication of something that we can read in its entirety online.

Ooh. Sorry Dante. ;D If you want, you can lock and move it or I can. I think I may get it, just to see.

If I can get to one of the stops on his book tour, I may buy it to get it signed. If not, I'll ask for it for Christmas.

I got The Lump of Coal today. The text is nearly identical to the online version linked above, but in the odd one or two places the wording has been changed, as have the paragraph/page breaks. Helquist's art is excellent; full-colour and full of life.
