The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra is going to perform Lemony Snicket's newest publication, The Composer is Dead, during its 2009-2010 season. It will be narrated by Nathaniel Stookey, the composer of the original music. I am already planning to buy tickets. Are there similar performances at anyone else's local symphony?

Hi munchkinguy. I'm moving this to WWriter, as TCiD isn't an aSoUE supplement, tempting though the Winnipeg link is. Interesting that Stookey's narrating; is that a promotion or a demotion, do you think?

Snicket himself will be narrating at performances in San Fransisco later this spring. I saw him narrate and Stookey conduct in Chicago last October. It was fabulous! I can't imagine Stookey would be better than Snicket as the narrator. The two of them together were hilarious in an encore performance of Grieg's "In the Hall of the Mountain King". Anyway, a little digging produced a link to the Winnipeg performance.
