"No, I go to Hill Valley Elementary School," replied Sunny. "I'm in kindergarten." "And I'm in preschool," added Beatrice. "Have you ever been to Hill Valley?" OOC: Do you picture the younger Beatrice as the spitting image of Kit? I do.

“I’m afraid not,” Geraldine confessed. “I’m in my final year of high school, which is located up in the Mortmain Mountains. When I’m not in school, I spend most of my time here in San Francisco.”
“I know where Hill Valley is, though,” Bertrand said. “It’s a nice town, from what I’ve heard.”

"What kind of music do you listen to?" asked Sunny. "I like Led Zeppelin."
"Led Zeppelin rules!" chanted Beatrice. "Led Zeppelin rules! Led Zeppelin rules! Led Zeppelin..."
"Okay, Beatrice, that's enough," chided Doc, as he used his right hand to cover the three-year-old's mouth.
OOC: I guess our Beatrices are slightly different in appearances, then.

Bertrand and Geraldine couldn’t stop themselves from chuckling in response to little Beatrice’s enthusiasm. “Well,” Bertrand said, as Doc handed him some chocolate ice-cream in a cone. “I’m a big fan of the Beatles, thanks to my girlfriend.” “And I’m partial to Cyndi Lauper,” Geraldine said, taking the cone topped with strawberry ice-cream from Doc. [Yes. ]

"The Beatles are cool, too," commented Sunny, as Doc handed her a chip and mint ice cream cone.
"Led Zeppelin is better," insisted Beatrice, as Doc handed her a rocky road ice cream come.
"By the way, the children told me about the Mortmain Mountains," added Doc. "It sounds like it wasn't a very pleasant experience for them. Sunny doesn't seem to remember, as she was only a baby during the time - but she was forced to work as a slave for..." As he recalled Bertrand's reaction to the mention of "Count Olaf", he just said, "... a villainous troupe."
Sunny shuddered at Doc's words. While she had no clear memory of what all she had to endure under the villainous Count Olaf, it still wasn't very pleasant to think about."
"Even at the age of five," explained Doc, "Sunny is an expert cook. She can even outdo me in cooking.."

Geraldine’s face went pale at the mention of Sunny having to work as a slave for anyone, while Bertrand gave the five-year-old a sympathetic smile.
“Is that so?” he asked. “What do you like to cook?”
“Perhaps you could even teach me a thing or two,” added Geraldine, having regained her composure. “Monty’s made dinner for me on several occasions, and it would be nice to do the same for him sometime.”
[That’s my last post for the night, but I’ll be online tomorrow afternoon sometime. ]

"I'm pretty much a student of all cuisines," Sunny replied, smiling.
"Right, just like I'm a student of all sciences," Doc replied, laughing. "When she and Hector cook together, they make a great team. She's even created some great vegetarian dishes, as Isadora Quagmire happens to be one."

“That’s fascinating,” Bertrand said. “I’ve never known any vegetarians before. But I’m sure that your recipes are exquisite, Sunny.”
“Who are Isadora Quagmire and Hector?” Geraldine asked.

"Isadora is one of the orphans that I was the guardian for," explained Doc. "Since spring of 1983, I've been the guardian for the Baudelaires and the Quagmires - making it a total of seven children. Isadora, Duncan, and Quigley are triplets - by the way."

Bertrand and Geraldine shared an astonished look, before turning back to the scientist and two children.
“Goodness,” Geraldine exclaimed. “That must’ve taken some serious responsibility and patience.”

"Well, not especially," Doc replied, laughing. "They were all usually well-behaved, even the youngest ones here. The kids have all been through a lot, so they were never too demanding. Sometimes, I still can't believe that the Baudelaires spend a whole year on the island. It's a good thing that Violet is an inventor, Klaus is a scholar, and Sunny is a chef. Actually, she's also a biter - and she has the sharpest teeth that I've ever known."

“Really?” Bertrand asked. He peered closer at Sunny, who smiled to show off her four large, sharp teeth. “Oh, wow— I certainly hope she doesn’t use them when she’s angry.”
Bertrand was joking, of course, which caused both Sunny and Beatrice to giggle.
“Bertrand’s great with kids,” Geraldine pointed out. “You should see him with Jerome Squalor’s little brother.”

"In a way," commented Doc, softly, "I'm going to feel a little sad, when Sunny loses her baby teeth."
Sunny was uncertain of how she felt about the idea. Violet and Klaus had told her that, when she was a baby, she loved to bite. It was within the short period of time between being on the run from the Village of Fowl Devotees and the Hotel Denouement fire, though, that her cooking abilities had been realized. Still, even at the age of five, her teeth had come in handy, on more than one occasion. She was told that, about a year from now, she would start losing her teeth - which she wasn't certain of how to feel. Would her newer teeth be just as sharp, or would they be... normal?

“I can see why you would be,” Bertrand said. “After all, Sunny’s baby teeth are a part of her— she’s had them since you’ve known her.”
Geraldine nudged her friend. “There you go again,” she said, “trying to psychoanalyze people.” Smiling, she turned to Doc. “He’s always doing that with people at school.”
“Monty and I graduated from the V.F.D. Training School just last year,” Bertrand explained, making sure to keep his voice relatively low. “Now we volunteer as student interns.”

"VFD?" asked Doc, stunned. "Volunteer Fire Department? I'm part of that group, too! I was about eight years old, when I was recruited. It's a shame about the schism that occurred twenty years ago, though. As if the 1960s wasn't already a tumultuous decade! Of course, the Hotel Denouement fire from the spring of 1982 didn't help."
While Doc knew that the Baudelaires were responsible for that fire, and he understood their reasoning behind it - and, thus, didn't fault them in the slightest - it still made him feel sad.
