Dear Mr. Snicket,
Seven years ago, I ran into your books incidently at ten years old, as I was snooping around in my sister's bedroom. My sister had always been reader and that was what she always did. Your books seemed to have sparked some interest in her, but not me. I was terrified of the covers; an odd-looking baby wrapped up in a snake! I had never seen such horrible covers before in my life. I imagine you know how I felt.
One dreadful, fateful day, I heard my mum and sister talk about them. They were talking about giving them to me to read. Since I am mildly autistic, I was disgusted by the idea and was adamant not to read them. But to my horror, my mum had bought the audiobooks. One night, she tied me to my bedroom and tortured me by playing this terrible tale in the CD player.
My interest grew and grew as time dragged on. And by odd coincidence, my own writing style changed. My own characters were involved tragedies of their own. My stories had gotten better and better. Now, I almost have the confidence to write and publish a novel of mine. I thank you for that, sir.
With All Due Respect, An aspiring author
OK, question. Is Daniel going to have a booksigning in the UK? I've always dreamt of going to one and meeting my hero face to face.

That's a fine story, lswannabe. I wish you luck with your ambitions, and I'm sure Mr. Snicket will too if he reads this. OK, question. Is Daniel going to have a booksigning in the UK? I've always dreamt of going to one and meeting my hero face to face. He came once, a couple of years ago; if I recall correctly he went to the Hay Festival and also made an appearance at the Tower of London for which tickets were available by competition. Maybe he'll come back one day. He's appeared in France too, so it seems he's a man unafraid of travel.
