So, a few years ago I sent Mr. Snicket a letter using an address still available on LemonySnicket.com. I don't know what I wrote, or how long it took to get this response, but eventually I did and this is the result. I know for a fact I'm not the only one who got this reply, because there's another copy of it in the Dastardly Documents, but that copy leaves out a thing or two. If you add up the missing letters, you'll see the message "Olaf nearby." Also, according to the stamp on the back, has it really been four years since I received this? Time really does fly... Another noteworthy fact is that I was also in possesion of a letter like this, except the message was different. I can't find this letter, and I have a rising suspicion my cousin, J, has taken it from me. I remember some things about it, though, like the secret message was written in CapiTal lEtterS (like that) and spelt "He has post a disguise." Were there supposed to be a series of these notes, I wonder?

Traditionally, writing to Snicket, whether by hand or by e-mail, gets a form letter in return, and they did update it from time to time. I don't know if you'd call it a "series," though; they probably weren't written by Handler himself, for example. Where's the copy of this in DDocuments, and what's missing from it? I'm in a rush right now and will look properly later.

Interesting! But what does 'He has post a disguise' mean?

Even though it's been a while since you received this letter, Sherry Ann, it's still very exciting that you received a response. And I, too, am wondering what the meaning behind 'He has post a disguise' is.

Interesting! But what does 'He has post a disguise' mean? No idea. That's just what it spelt out, and what leads me to believe it was a series of letters- how else would you know who "He" was? The DDocuments copy didn't have the back of the letter, which I'd planned on posting but didn't end up doing. It's in the code guide, I think, and the significant part was that on the back it said "Very Fast Delivery." And the name/address was hand-written, which is one of the reasons I wish I had the other letter, so I could compare the writing. Edit: Yep, right here.
