I read a ASOUE fanfiction with this couple.
I'm scared....

This couple seems to be popular in fanfiction. I guess they did nearly get married, which is more than you can say for most fan ships, but on the other hand it was a sham marriage for monetary gain. Some people seem to find that situation perversely fascinating.

This couple is too weird and creepy for me.In Russia a lot of people write fanfics about this couple but I don't like this couple. I prefer Olaf/Esme and Olaf/Kit. And Violet/Hugo(it is non-canon pairing but I think it could work).

I dislike many of the fanfic couples. I prefer the original ones. One pairing I ship though is Josephine\Widdershins.

I've never been a fan of non-canon ships. My shipping tends to stick firmly to the canon. Actually, it's not even real shipping that way; it's speculation as one might perform about any other plot element which is yet to be resolved.
I don't think you can honestly ship Violet/Olaf with real respect to the canon, though. Olaf just likes to think of himself as surrounded by attractive women, and the monetary element is his main prize. He'd quite happily murder Violet - and, were she less morally upstanding, I think she'd do the same to him.

That's how I feel too. Some of the fan fic couples are so... let's say strange, you can't imagine those two together. One couple that is not explicit in the books- but gives you a pretty good idea they have a romantic relacionship- is Sir\Charles. I like this couple very much, I don't know why.

I like Sir/Charles, too. They're a lot like Esme/Jerome, if you think about it, what with Sir being the one who's strict and has a desire for control, while Charles is the kinder, more passive one.
As for Violaf, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a fan of this couple. I've always had a fondness for older guy/younger girl pairings, so that's my reason right there. I have to agree that it is very out-of-character as far as canon goes, but an interesting scenario to explore all the same in fanfic.

Huh, I thought this was a typo of Violet's name. My mistake. But yea, if nothing else, a legal guardian becoming someone's lover/spouse is bad enough when Woody Allen does it, and Count Olaf is no Woody Allen.

@emma, I also like the idea of love between a teenager girl and an adult man. In my ficverse Violet have had a romantic relationship with Walt Weyinburg for some time. Walt was 41. But you see I am a big fan of Olaf/Esme and Olaf/Kit, so I don't want him to be with Violet whom I like much less than Kit and Esme.

You are right Emma, now that I think about it, Sir/Charles are a lot like Jesme.

I cannot express enough disappointment at having Googled Walt Weyinburg and finding him listed on a Lemony Snicket wiki as if he was a canon character.
