The freaks have no place whatsoever in The End. I cannot see any way whatsoever in which they would be suited to either the setting or the story. Either they would be so superfluous as that their omission would make no difference, or their inclusion would alter the course of events enough that it wouldn't be the same book. The whole point of The End is that it's divorced from the plot tangle that developed over most of the previous twelve books.
