Voting is over, the book we will be reading is the Hunger Games. by Susan Collins. Discussion will take place here.
Here is the discussion schedule:
July 26th: Chapters 1-3 August 2nd: Chapters 4-8 August 9th: Chapters 8-12 August 18th (I will be away until then): Chapters 13-18 August 25th: Chapters 19-23 August 30th: Chapter 24- 27
Here are the rules: Nobody may discuss or imply anything about the chapters that have not been talked about yet. Example, if you read ahead and are discussing theories about chapter 7 when we are only discussing chapters 1-3, don't do it. Anyone can pose questions as long as they are relevant to the chapters we're discussing that week.

Oooh a book club! I'm in ;D.
1. Florence and Giles by John Harding ISBN: 978-0007315048
2. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak ISBN: 978-0375831003
3. The Auslander by Paul Dowswell ISBN: 978-1599906331
4. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins ISBN: 978-0439023528
I hope some of my book choices aren't too tough for a twevel year old. Like "Auslander", which is about the Holocaust. It's just that I'm not that much older then 12 and my friend read it and loved it. Is it O.K.?
P.S.: Nominatissima, you do realize you picked the same ones as her, right? P.S.S.: I just realized I picked the Hunger Games, like Songbird did. Oh, well.

Actually, Songbird just added my suggestions to her post, so as to keep a better track of all nominations. Same with yours.

Yeah, we read the Book Thief last year. We also read Cloud Atlas, and Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norell, so don't nominate those.

So am I not adding Handler's book to the list? Also, I love The Looking Glass Wars, they are also making that a movie. Literally my whole bookshelf is going to be a movie in the next two years. (A Great and Terrible Beauty would be a good book to read but I don't think it's a book boys would enjoy very much)

So am I not adding Handler's book to the list? Well I've read the first chapter, and the derogatory F word was used. I don't know if it gets any worse though. I guess just to be safe, leave it off. I read it a couple of years ago and remember thinking it would look great as a movie anyway.

I was reading the first chapters of Little Bee and I think it's not apropriate for children. I read the British version ( The Other Hand) a couple of years ago, and if we're defining 'appropriate' as 'reasonable for 12-year olds', then no I don't think it's quite right for this list. My nominations: The Yiddish Policeman's Union by Michael Chabon 978-0007149827 Everything is Illuminated by Jonathan Safron-Foer 978-0060529703 The Crying of Lot 49 by Thomas Pynchon 978-0060913076 The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami 978-0679775430

I don't know why I need to say this, but The Auslander is not going to be released until August 16th, so we can't read it.
