It's an intriguing list of slightly obscure works that we should nonetheless read. Dances with Snakes sounds particularly barmy and rather like some of Handler's own work.

Oh God. His description of Dances with Snakes certainly creeps me out. I wonder what it is about. Did Daniel include it in the list as a joke (whereas all the other books are for children?)

Maybe he just wanted to provide for a diverse audience. Some of the children's books are apparently a good read for adults, too. It's just that one of the adult books isn't a good read for children.

What a fun set of books. Although something like Dances With Snakes must be inevitable in a Handler list.

I have a friend who is a Hispanist. I'll just borrow her copy of Dances With Snakes to see what it's like.
