I think I used to have an avatar. I don't see it. I know I don't frequent here often, so I thought maybe it expired. ?? I tried uploading a pic from tinypic, but I still have no avatar. Any suggestions?

Avatars don't expire, and I think even a lot of image-hosting sites don't have images which expire in quite that way. What exactly have you been trying to do? Uploading a picture from Tinypic, and then inserting the URL in the appropriate box in your Modify Profile page? Or conceivably you used the wrong form of URL - a lot of image-hosting websites have taken to putting in multiple forms of pasteable URLs, only one of which - the direct link - will display properly. Do you know the URL of the image?

If you have a website, you could try putting the image onto your site, that might work.

That URL is useless; you need a direct link to the image, which should be the one you pasted to get the image code. Put that in the "Avatar URL" slot in your Modify Profile page - oh, and you should probably specify the width and height of the image, too, since it isn't perfectly square. If that doesn't work, I don't know why it would be.
This is the problem with a lot of image-hosting sites at the moment; they're bizarrely reluctant to give you direct links to their images, and that causes all sorts of problems.

Still no luck using this URL: tinypic.com/view.php?pic=r91uyt&s=5. I avatar choices including "none" and "none" is marked. Does that have anything to do with it? Should I try somewhere else beside tinypic?

Again, that URL is useless. As a guideline, the URL you're using should end in the file type - in this case, .jpg - but even then, you can't always be sure of those. The URL you should be using is the one you pasted to post the image in your post above; that is, this one: i40.tinypic.com/r91uyt.jpgIn fact, I just tried making it my own avatar, and it worked perfectly. Use the top navigation bar to go to Profile. Click Modify Profile. Scroll down to Avatar URL, and paste in the URL I linked above. (For good measure - that's a pun, by the way - put 86 in the width box, and 99 in the height box.) Scroll to the bottom, and click Modify Profile.
