It doesn't seem like many people know this so I'm going to announce it anyway: there are two new Lemony Snicket projects in the works, but not much information has been released about them at the moment. One is a new book series, which Handler has stated is not a continuation of the series, but there will be some overlap, and the first book will be set to release in 2012. But the other project is a new ASOUE movie. It is apparently going to be animated, and I have heard a rumor that it is going to be in claymation. I can give you the sources that I heard this from if you'd like. This news makes me very happy and excited and I can't wait for these to be released! ;D

Wow, that's great :-) ! I was aware of the new book series, but I didn't know about this new movie. Are you sure of this though? Because we have heard some rumors that turned out to be... red herrings.

It seems to be true because there is an IMDB page for the movie under the tile "
Untitled Lemony Snicket Sequel" that says it is categorized under "Animated" and will be set to release in 2012 as well as the new book series.

IMDB is user-generated, so it isn't particularly strong evidence. Also this entry seems to heve been around since 2009. Snicket has frequently said he is working on a sequel to the movie, and claymation has been discussed before; I guess the entry is inspired by that. But the 2012 date seems very optimistic; if it really were coming out then we would know more about it by now. |

Hi snicketism, We've known about the new series - which will consist of four books - for a while now; a couple of factors you may not have known about are that Handler's said that some characters will return, and hinted that the Great Unknown will be involved and that the story is be a prequel. You can find information about it in either of the following two threads: Upcoming BooksDate Given For New Lemony Books Release!!As for the movie sequel, that's actually still up in the air; IMDB is user-generated and tends to see hoaxes and other cases of users jumping the gun. We know that Handler's been writing a script for a sequel and seems to have been doing so for years, and there's been discussion about alternative animation styles such as claymation, but there's been no confirmation that a new movie is something that will actually happen. You should look in the Miserable Movie board, particularly the Official Sequel Thread. I may well close this thread soon, in case people get confused and think this contains any actual new news. If you have any other questions, though, please feel free to field them here, or in the other threads I linked. |
