And that's one more great picture added to the great picture pile. I should probably say at this point that if anyone wants to have a stab at redoing mine, you're welcome to try; I just don't have the technical ability, or indeed the technology full stop, to show off anything particular impressive. With that said, I found a photograph in my files that I feel might suit BSam's "terrible melancholy" story: Edit: This is a version I attempted, but I'm not personally satisfied with it, which is why I'm leaving it open.

Not bad. If I can't find anything better, I'd be happy with that.
The white writing with the big white gap feels a little off perhaps. and the A could be a little more enhanced.

Yes, it doesn't fit my ideal imagined version of that image. Could maybe put the "or" in black at the centre of the sunset, perhaps... I'm really just putting those up as resources for public judgement and reuse.

I don't really have any particular software (or skill for that matter). I just use Pixlr.com. I'm actually quite dissatisfied with the oatmeal one. I'll try again, but I don't really know what the results will be.

I just have GIMP; I'll try doing my own 3 stories this weekend though. If I can't manage to make them to my satisfaction then I'll ask for help.

The improved Oatmeal image:

The non-transparent background on the oatmeal isn't really doing it any favours, but I like the device of having the story outlined against a crypt or some other kind of grave; it adds a sense of foreshadowing and contextualises the "RIP" as the high point of the story. I'd remake the image against just that background, therefore, or maybe another good image of a gravestone. I know I have stacks of gravestone photographs; I'll see if I can edit any that'd work. Maybe this, or this.

I'll see what I can do about the image of the Oatmeal, and I'll experiment a bit with the concept. Thanks for the images.

Wow, Sherry Ann that looks amazing! You use photoshop? Thank you very much, and I did indeed use Photoshop. Antenora, I really like your images, too (particularly "Sarah from Alaska"). I tweaked Dante's version; I don't know if it's really any better:

I tried to make one for my "peanuts" story, but I'm not sure how it turned out. Here are the ones that I did. Or, alternatively; Are the words to hard to read?

Really nice images so far! I especially like the one with "Sarah from Alaska." It made me laugh ;D I would love to contribute, but I am unfortunely not an artist.

Are we supposed to feel sorry for "Sarah from Alaska"? ;D allegedly bryan, I really like your one about Peanuts. The writing is fine, I certainly had no trouble reading it.

Sherry Ann, if BSam approves your image for his story, I'd happily take it. Bryan, yours are great, too; I think I'd rather use the first one as it's slightly clearer what image is being created in the peanuts behind the text. (And for those who are wondering, Sarah from Alaska is a reference to this.)
