I had been meaning to bring this up eventually, but yes, I am increasingly doubtful that Poison for Breakfast will be out this year at all. Daniel Handler's agency page, which still lists the book for fall, is the only reason I haven't expressed this opinion before; but the fact that there's no cover art up yet speaks volumes. The truth is that there have been absolutely no updates on this book since early last year, when it dropped off the face of the Earth not so long after being announced. I don't think there's any chance of it having been scrapped entirely, but I think it's very plausible that, having been delayed once, it might end up being kicked around the schedule until the publishers finally decide that the time is right (as has happened to a lot of Handler's adult novels).

I've been wondering about updates on this. The information appears bleak. I find it kind of strange in general that it will be a stand alone novel, because ASOUE and ATWQ are both a series. I wish he would write another series. Maybe that's why the can is getting kicked down the road? Maybe it will become a series instead.
But Bottle Grove appears to be coming out on time.

Did the release date for "Bottle Grove" change? Because I pre-ordered it on Book Depository and I was supposed to get it when it released in the UK, but today I received an email saying it was already on its way

I looked up the U.K. publisher's website and that edition is still slated for late November, so I'd imagine it's likely you're getting an American edition that arrived in stock ready for their August release date. It's not unusual for online retailers to get transatlantic copies, in my experience.

I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this, but Daniel Handler published a list of tour dates for Bottle Grove in instagram. Hopefully this link will work: http://instagram.com/p/B1hLLL7Bjwf

Good news if you live in the U.S.A. - Daniel Handler's latest novel for adults, Bottle Grove, is now available! (If you live in the U.K., please wait another three months until November 28th.) Title: Bottle Grove (Daniel Handler) Cover (Bloomsbury):Release Date: August 27th, 2019 (U.S.) ( Source); November 28th, 2019 (U.K.) ( Source) Details: Previously titled Fox in the Bottle, presumably from the story of the same name in centuries-late Chinese writer Pu Songling's Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio. Amazon.co.uk reports the title Bottle Grove, which Handler's agents Steven Barclay Agency agree with (after previously providing the title Stern Grove) ( Source). The story concerns two marriages, the San Francisco tech boom, and various related secrets and schemes which may involve the supernatural ( Source). The next book in the schedule is the Lemony Snicket title Poison for Breakfast; though since we've had no news about it for well over a year, it seems sadly unlikely to meet its projected release date in the fall.

And Bottle Grove is now officially out in the U.K. as of November 28th, with Amazon.co.uk reporting an order of the novel will arrive in a breezy 1-2 months. This effectively clears the schedule and in terms of Messrs. Snicket and Handler's next publications we now have only the long-awaited Poison for Breakfast on the calendar; that calendar being for the year 2021...
