The twenty four contestants were blindfolded and escorted into the arena. The arena was a vast space with all sorts of different environments. The middle section they were brought to was a grassy field. Each contestant was placed in a circle and had their blindfolds removed. They looked around and saw the field. Scattered all around were various weapons and helpful survival tools. Then they noticed the clock that was counting down from 90 seconds. As soon as it hit zero, they were free to begin. They looked at each other. Almost every contestant had a grudge against Tragedy, but there were also several grudges between the contestants and they couldn’t wait to settle their disputes once and for all. There were also many close friendships. Some had decided to work together, and hoped fate would intervene before they had to end up killing each other. The timer hit zero, and Tragedy’s voice was heard across the arena. “The Dark Games have begun.” And so they had.
Everyone made a mad dash for the weapons. Some had a weapon of choice, such as Songbird who was skilled with bow and arrow, or Dante the master swordsman. Others just tried to grab as much as they could, such as PJ who had zero fighting experience. Some didn’t even need weapons, like Misery who was a black belt. The weapons were scattered enough that everybody was able to get at least one. Then they all stopped. They knew the fighting was inevitable, but nobody wanted to be the first to strike. Bryan broke the silence by exclaiming “Hey, I have an idea. What if we all threaten to kill ourselves? They would have to stop the fight, and let us all free! It’s a perfect plan.” The other twenty three contestants looked at Bryan, and then looked around at each other. Could this work? Would Tragedy allow it? Then, as if on cue, every single contestant attacked Bryan. Arrows were shot into his chest at long range. Throwing knives pierced his body. Dante slashed off his right arm with a sword. Even a couple spears flew through the air and impaled him. He hit the ground, saying to himself “maybe next time I won’t spoil the Hunger Games in the comment section.” A cannon sounded to signal his death. The contestants scattered, not wanting to be the next one killed.
Several alliances were formed before the games had even started. Pandora, Willis and Sixteen were a strong group of friends. Dante, Sherry Ann and Hermes also decided to stick together. There were other alliances’ who tried to keep their partnerships secret for as long as they could, and several brave contestants who felt fighting alone would be their best option. And then there was Countess Violet. While Countess Violet technically didn’t have any friends that were participants, she had arranged for her husband, children, and a couple good friends to hide in the arena and help her out. Her plan was for them to camouflage themselves and remain unnoticed while she sat unprotected, then have them attack anyone who went after CV. The plan was about to work as Willis, Pandora and Sixteen noticed her sitting defenseless, and stealthily went in for the kill. Unfortunately for Countess Violet, her husband and friends both started making loud comments about how beautiful she was, and how it was amazing that she wasn’t more popular. Sixteen’s keen eyes heard them, and they figured out what was going on. Pandora used her wits and started talking poorly about Countess Violet within earshot. This enraged Countess Violet’s entourage, and they all jumped out from their hiding places. “Look, she’s cheating” yelled Pandora, who loved ratting out people that violate rules. “How dare you accuse me of cheating! This is an outrage! It’s not my fault they’re here! What am I supposed to do, just not accept their help?! I’m quitting!” yelled Countess Violet, and took the dagger she was holding and stabbed herself in the heart. Her family and friends followed suit and they were all deleted. A cannon sounded, marking the second death. But 22 contestants still remained.
Next time… Thrills, chills and spills.
