I think others have post some ATWQ coincidences in the ASOUE Coincidence thread already, but in this case I might mention the octopus Antenora pointed out today was actually linked to in an article I read a few hours later.

Anternora! Your back!
Dante will be happy
Yesterday, my teacher said "a good way to learn is to ask the right questions. The wrong questions will get you nowhere."

I thought the name of the "Bombinating Beast" (mentioned in a catalog entry that Dante discovered) sounded like that of an Internet animation critter named Trogdor the Burninator: Doesn't that creature itself kind of look familiar? Edit: an even better coincidence now that we know that the statue is (or represents) the "Bombinating Beast"!

Oh God, what's on her back? I think it's one of those weird little seahorse-with-teeth things that she was just talking about!

I saw an old poster in a store that struck me as slightly Seth-y.

My sister, on discovering her purple marker was unusable, exclaimed "Where has all the ink gone?"

I'm on holiday in a village which used to be by the sea, but the sea has moved away. It looks almost like in Dante's pictures.

We used to have a Neighborhood Watch sign in my community, the logo of which rather reminds me of the shadow from the American cover of WCTBATH:

I've actually spotted a couple just this week: The book Johnny Tremain was on sale at a used-book sale on my campus. While perusing TV listings last night, I saw one for the 1934 horror film The Black Cat (for which the coffee shop is named, and whose trailer appears on that confusing website). I also realized that the " conversational maxim of manner" devised by linguist H. P. Grice: Be brief (avoid unnecessary prolixity). ...is amusingly reminiscent of Theodora's reprimand to Lemony i in the first chapter: “Don’t repeat yourself. It’s not only repetitive, it’s redundant, and people have heard it before."
