There is an odd coincidence thread, but I'll keep this separate as I think there's another issue at work here: Did he know? Because that looks so much like a private joke which nobody else would get for a long time. And we know that he had ideas for the new series brewing for years in advance.

Sorry, didn't see the coincidence thread. But Handler claimed for a long time that the series was "still a twinkle in someone else's eye" (as late as January 2010!), but he definitely did have ideas for other stuff. Just like J. K. Rowling, he's not willing to completely let go (unlike J. K. Rowling, he actually acted on those urges). Do we have any interviews where he mentions the series early on?

The earliest reference I can see listed in the first post of this thread is November 2008.

I don't know if it's a coincidence. I rather think that series may have either started with the title and this really is a personal in-joke, or the series probably started with the idea, the concept of having (wrong) questions as a recurring theme (much like Handler's novel Adverbs having the concept of having an adverb for each chapter).

Hah, that brings the title of the series to a whole new meaning.

This interview has been posted here a couple times before, but it's interesting to look at it again now with a new perspective. There's not quite enough there for any definite conclusion, but I think the reference to questions is certainly a consideration.
