4/7? That means we are not getting them all from 1-7, or at least not in the normal order. And I hoped there would be a different question in the end... I like the poem speaking of the dark sun while the sun on the picture is white. Or is that the moon?

The 4/7 is interesting, and I rather like that they aren't coming in order.
This has come exactly a week after the first. Hachette had better get a move on, unless of course, they are releasing them gradually at first, then speeding up as it gets closer to release.

Last week's came on Wednesday and was 1/7. This week's came on Wednesday and skipped two numbers to be 4/7. If next week's comes on Wednesday and skips two numbers it'll be 7/7. That will also be the last Wednesday before WCTBATH comes out. I don't know what these facts mean, but they seem both reliable and significant. I suspect we won't be seeing 2, 3, 5, and 6 - but I don't know why. Is there a code we're failing to understand here?

Perhaps the others are being intercepted by villains?
Anka: I think that is definitely the moon. It is a night scene. I am reminded of the line from TSS 'All nights are dark days'.
It strikes me that although we now know a lot about the scene, characters and themes of the story, we still have no idea what the title relates to. Not, it seems, the recruiters from VFD, as we originally thought. (Unless they are coming to recruit Moxie? Or Ellington? Or...)
It's also notable that the Dutch title, if I read it correctly, refers to an hour of the night, something the English title doesn't specify.

The rhyme scheme has stayed consistent, as has the ultimate question, and both second lines deal with liquids - though that could be a coincidence. All that's changed is the number, and I'm not sure I have a good theory as to why. Perhaps we're getting fragments of a longer reply, if the reply were sent in seven pieces?
"The inhabitants look to the sky," by the way, seems as though it's referring to the falling Lemony from Drop Everything and elsewhere.

The detail spent on the birds is interesting. The bottom right one is clearly a barn owl, and the top left is a great horned owl, long eared owl, or screech owl (hard to tell with no coloring, but most likely great horned because of the pronounced hook in the beak). The owls, combined with the line, "But at night the inhabitants look to the sky", remind me strongly of Harry-Potter-style delivery birds. If it weren't for the more obvious clues that Snicket sends messages/reports via inter-library loan requests, I would guess that these poems are being delivered via owl post like Isadora's couplets were delivered by crow.

What puzzles me is the fact that the picture is quite detailed, but doesn't contain much... would it fit in one of the chapter headings, like the last one did? Are the owls plot-important? Is the poem a reference to anything? Or are these the wrong questions?

They seem to be speeding up by skipping a few of the mailouts, maybe to come to some kind of point, as in meaning, with these stanzas, in time of the book's release, but that doesn't mean that they won't release the rest of the stanzas after the book release. I don't think that they'll just stop all of the promotion the day the book is out. Seeing as they didn't do as much promotion as originally planned (for now), I think they'll still be pushing it for a week or two afterwards, while Handler/Snicket will be on tour with the book.

I would guess that these poems are being delivered via owl post like Isadora's couplets were delivered by crow. That is a very interesting thought... I really love how many parallels there are to ASoUE during the first four chapters, and I hope that they have more references to VFD trained animals. It strikes me that although we now know a lot about the scene, characters and themes of the story, we still have no idea what the title relates to. Not, it seems, the recruiters from VFD, as we originally thought. (Unless they are coming to recruit Moxie? Or Ellington? Or...) Well I'm anticipating the death of Theodora S. Markson at some point, following much the same pattern as the first few books (with the dying guardians, and frequent necessity for relocation) Maybe Lemony will be thrust into some sort of recruitment role or something. I'm intrigued by the complete lack of mention of his elder siblings, and the fact that his parents are apparently not his parents. I'm hoping to see some mention of Valorous Farm Dairy for UA at some point in this series, and am also really curious as to the loyalty of Qwerty.

I agree; I'm expecting still to see the odd post-release Snicketmail before they wind down the WCTBATH campaign, and take a break before beginning the campaign for ?2.
