So, about an hour ago I was in Tesco. I entered the books section, and saw on the shelves a copy of Egmont's edition of Who Could That Be at This Hour? It was here, in my local Tesco three days before release. Faster than you could say, "But it doesn't come out until Tuesday!" I purchased the thing and bought it home. I enclose some hurriedly taken, low quality, yet enormous, photographs. Cover spine back cover inside cover- it's also the same as the back cover. If you want any more photos, just let me know. I advise anyone in the UK who can get to a Tesco this evening to go out and purchase the book. I have no idea how long it's been up on shelves- was anyone in Tesco recently? I am, of course, confused and excited and pleased at getting it for a mere £4.86. Going to read it now.

Wow, congratulations, Bee! I'm... not really pleased to hear that there are copies out there already, but for the first sign of a leaked copy to come from a 667er, and, unusually, a British 667er at that, is rare. I'll hold off on getting an early copy myself, if it's even possible; there's a particular independent bookstore I want to support (and in any case I've read the U.S. edition so possession isn't really an issue...). All I can advise right now is to have a glance at the spoiler policy in the Official Spoiler Thread, and if you have anything to say before Tuesday, try and keep it there. We can use this thread to discuss the exterior. And on that note... it looks very nice. Interesting to see the back cover - unlike the front cover and spine, they've kept it almost identical to the LB back cover, except they've swapped around the taxi and the manor, swapped the streets for the shadowman, and used their own font and colour scheme. I think it looks good - the difference to the front is pretty weird, actually, but we still get plenty of new illustrations there, so that's good. Also, octopi, yay. This means that we're probably lacking the material from the inside front flap of the LB edition, but the back flap material - i.e. the Snicket and Seth bios - will probably be in the end pages. I hope you enjoy the book, Bee!

It was not in my local Tesco last night. I would definitely have noticed. I think it probably appeared today. (Though mine is only a small Tesco. Perhaps it's only in the big ones?)
Release dates, except for Harry Potter books, are not always religiously observed, and sometimes the gap between first appearance and official release is much longer than this; I once saw a headline saying 'book X appears today' when I had had it for about two weeks (without any hint that I was getting something special).

Yep, there are Snicket and Seth bios at the very back. There's the website down at the bottom, still redirecting to a sign up page. Edit: It has 258 pages just like the american edition, and also the pages feel really...papery, for want of a better word. The illustrations are still colour, I was just expecting glossy pages.

I was a little surprised to see they got colour illustrations onto non-glossy pages in the U.S. edition, too, but it's just a pretty simple shade of blue. Nothing too unmanageable, I guess. Good to see the Snicket and Seth bios in their expected place, although the lack of use of the website is... odd. Also, WCTBATH still isn't on Egmont's own website, which is just embarrassing. Oh well, at least it's actually released and they didn't just forget about it somehow!

Congratulations! And at what a great price. I'm a little disappointed to hear the pages aren't glossy, but ... the book itself looks fairly durable. At this point, though, I'm content to wait. Two days isn't so long in the scheme of six years. Plus, I promised by business to Amazon way back in March (I think they did deliver a copy of The End early, though - perhaps I'll have the same luck).

I'm thinking of posting a non-spoiler review some time tomorrow, if there's time for me to write one. I don't know how interesting or useful it would be however, as there isn't much time until the book comes out. Is anyone interested?

I'm sure we'd be interested in seeing a non-spoiler review from another early reader, Bee - even as someone who's already read the book, I'd be interested in that! You can give it its own thread, or the Official Review Thread, or the official advance review thread (I suspect you'll go for the former, but I wanted to set out the choices). Have you read the whole thing yet?

Thanks for the pictures! I'm going crazy now! When I get the book you will all have finished reading and thinking and talking about it and I can only read what you think about it and not tell you my own thoughts because someone already thought the same before. I really live on another planet. I think not everyone will have the book on tuesday, at least for those not living somewhere where English is the first language it won't be that easy, so another non-spoiler review would be great.

Congrats on the early copy, Bee! And thanks for the pictures. I'm not really disappointed that it's not printed on glossy poster paper, because I don't really like it. ALso it's just one colour basically that is printed, so any special paper isn't really required for that I think,. Although the cover/exterior of the book does look rather glossy, more so than than the ASoUE Egmont books, isn't it?

I really live on another planet. We'll still be interested in your thoughts, Anka. It's happened before that people have come late to discussions with new ideas that the rest of us haven't thought of. How are those of you outside the U.K. and America getting the book? Are you importing? It's possible you might be able to download the ebook if you were to put a fake American address into something like Amazon but charge the order to your real address, although I haven't tried this myself.

Although the cover/exterior of the book does look rather glossy, more so than than the ASoUE Egmont books, isn't it? Kind of. It's hardback, but it feels kinda plasticy, almost like some kind of stiff rubber. Also I seem to have had the misfortune of picking up a copy covering in horrible sticky marks.

How are those of you outside the U.K. and America getting the book? Are you importing?. Are you telling me that if I walk into a bookshop on Tuesday, and ask for a copy of WCTBATH they may not be in stock. This changes everything ... I might even have to *shudder* buy the E-Book

How are those of you outside the U.K. and America getting the book? Are you importing? On amazon.de I could already preorder it in august, they have a lot of English books there. But they can't send it until the 29th.
