Tea

Maybe it's an English thing, maybe it's an oldie thing I don't know but I can't get through the day without at least ten cups of it.... Should tea really be as bitter as wormwood and as sharp as a double edged sword? Mine has to be as strong as diamond and as black as a crow flying through a starless night. How about anyone else? How does your tea have to be?

My tea has to be warm. I know it's too simple and not poetic, but it's the truth. I'm not British but when it's not really very hot outside you can measure my free time in tea cups. At boarding school I was famous for drinking lots of tea but always without sugar. (well, I was more famous for being strange, but that is a different story...)

I've always liked sweet, milky tea, on the basis that everything is better with sugar added to it. Also, I let it cool down first; the only thing worse than scalding tea is cold tea, and that is an abomination.

oh, yes, iced tea. That doesn't have to be warm and it's also good in summer.

It has to be hot, strong, and without sweetener/milk/cream. I love Earl Grey and English Breakfast tea.

I don't drink tea..... I'm only 13 Haha, good one. Anyway, I'm like that as well, deviant1. Tea is my fuel. Although I've gotten into the habit of drinking it with sugar. When I don't, I get the irrational feeling that I don't get the most out of the tea. I also love me some lemon into the tea, but that doesn't have to be. I usually drink Earl Grey, but I also like Darjeeling, Chai, Strawberry and sometmies mint. But yeah, it has to be as strong as a double edged sword and hot as sh*t, if I'm going to be poetic. Iced tea is fine, but if you really want to cool down on a hot day, hot tea is actually better for you (I've heard people in Africa do that as well, drinking hot tea to cool down, that is)

Mine has to be as strong as diamond and as black as a crow flying through a starless night. Me too! I prefer mine with cream, and it has to be peppermint or vanilla. I also drink iced tea.

I keep trying different types of tea without milk and sugar, and I find I simply cannot subscribe to Kit's philosophy. Earl Grey was okay, and Chai I have yet to test, but all the others were aawful. I quite like a bit of tea when I can, and peppermint, chai and Earl Grey are my blends of choice.

Mine is just standard tea with milk, no sugar. I like tea with honey, and any kind of spiced tea.

I don't let my kids drink caffeinated tea yet but they love chamomile and other herbals. Shame on my parents, I started drinking tea when I was about 2, so small wonder I'm so addicted! Lapsang Souchong from a tin mug is my everyday choice - it reminds me sitting round the campfire but at this time of year I drink mostly Chai or Yogi tea and in the hot summer (if we ever get it!) I find Lady Grey, Rose or Lavender to be most refreshing. But whatever I'm drinking I always leave the teabag in and I can't stand milk or sugar as it seems to obscure the taste. I once lived in a strange and distant land where everyone drank only hot water....that was disturbing on many levels....
With tea in hand, MamaLu x
