About the Swimming Lady, I have a suspicion that it was Kit. Lemony mentions in the book somewhere that he hoped a salad he ordered in a Japanese restaurant would have the special condiment that could possibly save his sister's life. My guess is that Kit got in contact with the Medusoid Mycelium on her venture into the cave. I forgot to bookmark what page I had read that, but the hardcover versions have rough cuts, which make it hard to properly skim through.

I remember the same condiment reference; I think it was in Chapter Ten of TGG. Ah, it might've been a crouton, actually. I don't think there's anything concrete against Kit being the swimming woman, but it makes some of her later actions appear a little redundant; for instance, after she meets the Baudelaires early in TPP, she goes to meet Captain Widdershins, but if she were the swimming woman she'd have just left him the previous day. The same goes for her meeting the Baudelaires, really; she'd only just have missed them at the Queequeg. In fact, I just checked TPP, and she says that she and Quigley both were the ones who sent the Volunteer Factual Dispatch to the Queequeg that summoned the Baudelaires to Briny Beach, which would only have been a few hours after she left the submarine. While Kit is one of the obvious picks for the swimming woman, it's starting to look a bit unlikely, on consideration - smart though your Medusoid Mycelium connection is.

I do have a feeling the taxi driver was lemony, or it could be just another volunteer

I, too, think it is Lemony for two reasons.
1. He plans to meet Kit at Hotel D. as seen in the note from TSS. When Kit doesn't see Lemony, he honks, as is heard.
2. In reversed letters, Lemony writes about sibling watching them.

We're talking about the taxi driver in Chapter Ten, although he may also have been driving the taxi pursuing Kit's in Chapter One. I got the idea that the taxi pursuing Kit's contained Justice Strauss...I rented the books from the library so I don't have them with me for reference, but I remember Justice Strauss in the hotel saying that she had been following the Baudelaires and I thought she said something about a taxi.... though I suppose LS still could have been the one driving the taxi... |

So Lemony was also the taxi driver in TWW, then? If memory serves, was this the driver that insisted on showing photos of his new baby (as part of his VFD disguise)?

I believe that was the TRR taxi driver, who we don't actually get a look at; we just hear it from Olaf's point of view.
