Sourced from Barnes & Noble. A reminder as to what the book is and what it's about: --- Release Date: 11th February 2014 ( Source) (McSweeney's McMullens) Details: "We are very curious about the Swinster Pharmacy. We stay up late every night wondering what sort of eerie secrets it contains. Why are there three Styrofoam heads in the windows? Who is the owner? Is it really closed on weekends? Renowned investigator Lemony Snicket has compiled 29 myths about this bewildering establishment, in the vain hope that he could help us shine some light on this enduring mystery." ---

It's another little square book!

I've got no idea what to expect from this book - it sounds like it's going to be really creepy, but with this pair working on it it could be totally silly instead. But I really like the art style Lisa Brown is using here - the practiced unrefinedness, as opposed to the clean lines and bold colours of The Latke Who Couldn't Stop Screaming (or indeed Picture the Dead). It suggests to me that this is to be a book about shadows and rough edges. And it's only about three months away, too.

I have recently found myself re-reading Lemony Snicket's official bio for the press, which can be found on his HarperCollins website ( here), and I've noticed the line: Could this little book be about the Snicket family's hometown?

I don't know if this has been discussed already but why 29?

I have recently found myself re-reading Lemony Snicket's official bio for the press, which can be found on his HarperCollins website ( here), and I've noticed the line: Could this little book be about the Snicket family's hometown? I wouldn't read too far into that; this looks to me more like one of Snicket's occasional books that have nothing to do with anything, like all of his picture books, and especially those of his books not published by his main publisher. Plus, that bio is really old (as you can tell from the fact that it dates from the HarperCollins era). I don't know if this has been discussed already but why 29? Because it's an amusingly uncommon number and because that's as many myths as he could come up with?

Yeah I guess that's all the reasoning Snicket needs.

I just noticed this. The cover looks certainly interesting, and not what I expected at all.

Out of curiosity, Teleram, what were you expecting?

Is it an open-the-flaps book or what?

I don't understand the question and I won't respond to it.

How unfriendly of you, Pen. To Tryina, I don't get the impression that it's anything other than a typical book - pages with colourful pictures and text - but you never know.

Out of curiosity, Teleram, what were you expecting? I was kinda expecting it to have a more mysterious look, maybe with a black background.
