Is that even possible?
For two reasons,
1. The distance! Both locations are miles and miles apart. With one being in the middle of the ocean.
2. A passage way under the ocean? Was it implied that they were planning to dig under the San? A passage way under the ocean is impossible. They would have to dig so deep and so far.
File that under the other stuff in the series THATS bizarre.

I believe that a tunell leads to the island, but more specifically the tunell we see in ATWQ

Which tunnel would that be?

Presumably he means the one we find Kit in at the end of WDYSHL

Hmm, I don't think a sewer was quite what I had in mind... although in any case the tunnel from the island was a) meant to lead to Anwhistle Aquatics, and b) was never completed.

Who exactly told us the tunnel was incomplete?

Ishmael, and while he's not entirely reliable, the fact that the Medusoid Mycelium didn't spread to the island through the tunnel is evidence enough that he was correct. Also, I'm going to take a wild guess that the Baudelaires probably explored it during their year on the island, too.

Not to be confrontational, but is it beyond belief that he lied, and it was the apple tree preventing the MM

I think you'd be setting yourself pretty strongly against circumstantial evidence and the spirit of the text. Argue it if you want, but it sure isn't what was intended.
