dude this isn't a new hip tv show you didn't hear about, how can you not know what eugenics is
have you ever studied wwii/nazi germany?
tho i'm not sure what exactly we're suppose to discuss. is this like a "on one hand, we could eliminate genetic disorders; on the other, it's a racist slippery slope" thread

Yeah I'm pretty sure eugenics is universally accepted as a bad thing. It was pretty popular as a hypothetical starting around late 1800s early 1900s and then WWII happened and everyone was so horrified to see what it looks like in practice there have not been any significant proponents since.

I think that depends on what you count as eugenics. For example some people would say it includes having different rules about abortion if the child has been diagnosed with some disease before birth, and that's not universally accepted as a bad thing.

Yeah, but everyone has major flaws, so if we tried to make an ideal human being, then it would be very difficult and also lessen the gene pool greatly. If having flawed children bothers you, then fine - just have kids with someone who's as close to perfect as you can find/is good at areas where you are mediocre. If you don't really give a salsa, then just carry on. I'm not too bothered, as long as nobody forces the entirety of humanity to share their beliefs.

just have kids with someone who's as close to perfect as you can find/is good at areas where you are mediocre. That reminds me of a joke my grannie likes to tell, about a super wise man who was ugly as hell. He wanted to marry a beautiful woman, no matter how dumb, in order to have super smart and super beautiful kids. He found this beautiful-yet-dumb woman, they married, had kids, and the kids turned out dumb and ugly.

It's sad that eugenics was/is so present in dog breeding just because people like to look at certain things
Sure folds on a dog is fun looking kind of but also it can barely breathe and is always in pain
