The Big Bang Theory has something to do with it?
What about Bing, the webpage?

Ok, I'll help you out. None of those are the right connection. I really thought the right connection would come sooner to people's minds. When you get it right, I promise I will confirm it, because as mentioned above, there's a step more to the solution after making the 'Bing' connection, so even if you find the right answer for this part, you might walk right past it if I don't confirm it.
It's also not The Bing Crosby Show, which came up just now when I googled 'Sitcom Bing'.

I remember when I gave Comet my turn to make up a puzzle months ago that one was kinda salsa too
So this says less about everyone's puzzle-solving abilities

I'm worried it's too specific. If it's something related to 13 Suspicious Incidents or 29 Myths on the Swinster Pharmacy I'll never get it because I didn't read those; if it's something really specific from TUA or TBL, I won't get it because I didn't read them in a long time.
Also, if it's a reference to something you need to know/watch (I don't like sitcoms) I'm lost too.

It's a very general reference. You need to know a little piece of information from Friends, but my general experience is that most people have watched more of that than I have, so I assumed that would be alright.

I hate Friends, I've never watched more than five minutes of it.

I literally know the answer because you sent it to me and I still don't understand how to get there from the clue

I have known the general direction it lies in for quite a while, but I haven't managed to make the final step.

Does it have to do with a certain episode, or setting, etc.? Because all I know about it is the cast, the basic setup and that Gary Oldman was once in it.

Okay, I concur, maybe it is a little convoluted. Hermes, do you want to want to share your progress? I'm sensing that if not, I should probably just tell people the answer.

Can I? OK.
Combining two sitcom clues, Everybody Loves Raymond, and Chandler Bing, from Friends, we get Raymond Chandler (a noir author, and so one of the inspirations for ATWQ). Where we go from there, though, I can't say. 'Raymond Chandler' isn't the actual answer.

Ok, I understand the connection now, and Hermes is absurdly close. Almost similar to when bear would solve the puzzle but then take an extra step.
