I don't know. I still think they're gonna do the effect, I just don't think it's in these set photos. These look like photos that were taken on the set while filming, not so much actual shots from the show to me. Also, even if they are actual shots, I doubt they would have done too much post on them aside from maybe a little color grading and correcting. I'm still putting money on his face being obscured, personally. Oh yeah these are absolutely not stills from the show. For sure these are set photos. The show will still be graded darker and have VFX. So we'll see. It might just be a semantics thing, but these definitely seem like production stills (aka publicity stills), and not "set photos." The latter are always left untouched (no colour grading, no FX) and usually include the film crew in the shot. Production stills, however, are meant to be used for posters, postcards, print media, social networking, the film’s website - all to advertise the finished product. That's why I think there is a higher possibility that this is how Sir's character will be presented in the end. I agree with zinthaniel; some jokes work better on paper than on screen. Plus: They got Don effing Johnson, guys! This is high-caliber casting and makes me too excited to worry about the smoke. PS: Is it me, or does Monty's mustache make him kinda look like Wario? |

What are the chances that some of the lumber mill employees that we have been seeing in the background are new minor characters? Since the children almost never talk to any of the workers in the book outside of Phil, it's possible they felt like including some newer people.

I don't think they'll focus too much in minor characters of the mill, since they'll not be relevant for the plot. I'm curious about Jacquelyn, costar in Zombies in the Snow and VFD member: I wonder if she'll have a more active role in the show, taking care of the kids or looking after them in the shadows. I can see her working at the mill, for example.

Something I like is how Sir is wearing very white and squeaky clean clothes, underlining the fact that he doesn't actually do anything. The workers' uniforms aren't all that smudgey in contrast, but this seems like an early point in the story (since Sir is smiling - he's generally dissatisfied for most of the book, isn't he?), so I guess the Baudelaires have time to get dirty and work up the contrast.

You might want to have your eyes checked. Violet's jumpsuit has mysterious brown smudges all over it and the other woman is covered in saw dust. I wouldn't expect them to get much dirtier though considering the main part of their job is debarking trees. Also Sir is wearing tan, only his shirt is white and very little of it is showing. |
