I think she just seems generally very, very cheerful and bouncy, which seemed at odds with her character from the books, but as I say, now that we've seen that her paranoia and fear is still present I no longer have any problems. I think perhaps the direction they're going is "Someone who's scared of everything but pretending it's fine," which is REALLY NEAT, so she's all like "THIS IS FINE HAHA WE'RE FINE HERE!" when underneath, very near the surface, she's a mess. I know tons of people who are scared of everything but just choose to ignore it rather than face it. I think maybe that's how they're doing it. I mean, a lot of the characters in the early books aren't especially nuanced. This is a cool spin on it.

That's a very nice idea -- I'll be interested to see if that is indeed the direction they're going in. I was a bit worried when we had ONLY seen the cheerfulness, but I think now we've seen her paranoia as well it comes across brilliantly; and the juxtaposition of her enthusiasm with her terror is brilliantly done.

Thinking of it that way, it can work. Let's hope that's the direction they're taking!

Also, I'm surprised nobody mentioned the lack of Sunny on this trailer. I was really looking forward to see her talking. I'm guessing that Sunny is getting so little screen time because they're still tweaking the CGI for her. It seems like CGI is being used pretty extensively, which is pretty understandable given how much action there is in many of these scenes. The CGI itself look pretty decent, the shot of Sunny in that suitcase looks pretty good. Unfortunately the scene of her in the truck looks pretty unfinished, her face is stuck in a weird pose and isn't moving much. I'm assuming that will be different in the final version given that all the digital face replacements seen in the earlier episodes are way more seamless. The scene where Uncle Monty is showing them the Reptile Room looks particularly unfinished too as Sunny is obviously a doll and not even looking around, so I'd guess her head will be replaced digitally in the final version (Or maybe they'll just pretend Sunny it asleep or maybe afraid of something and just refusing to look around). The scene where they're running down the steps at Uncle Monty's also looks like they used the doll as Sunny isn't even hanging onto Violet, instead Violet is holding Sunny's arm in place. I can't say that any of that bothers me though, I wouldn't expect them to use a real baby in an action sequence anyway, so I can overlook that easily.

Or that scary CGI baby in Twilight...
Really, ASOUE has a very low bar to get over in terms of baby fakery, so it should all turn out fine, especially since there's still over a month to make various adjustments.
This may be one of the most impressive TV shows visually I've seen in a while. It's definitely ambitious having new locations every two episodes, some of which are extremely CGI heavy on top of just being large sets.

Oh! Also, I LOVE the look of the costumes. We're seeing so many more now and they just look wonderful.

Damn only 10 minutes up and the Carrey train is already rushing through. Lmao I'm starting to wonder whether this is a legitimate complaint or just a bunch of trolls trying to get a rise out of NPH fans. Also let's try some of those VFDs again.

Yeah I thumbs downed that comment, it's quite bothersome to me lol.

Yeah, I think unfortunately it's a combination of trolling and a lot of people who genuinely don't know this character as anything other than a Jim Carrey character. Either way it's just kinda annoying at this point, honestly, not because I don't respect their opinions if they are being genuine, but rather because the first season is shot and probably nearly finished editing at this point, so there's literally no chance of Carrey coming back so I'd like them to just give it a rest. As for the VFDs, I'm assuming we'll get one when they pop the trailer up on the Unfortunate Events twitter or Netflix twitter. Hoping at least one of those follow soon.

" -Good morning, I am Stefano. -It is afternoon. And you're Count Olaf."
Seriously, I couldn't think of a better way to come up with Stefano's entrance. Louis Hynes delivers that line perfectly!!!

I thought this was an excellent trailer, maybe the best so far. I think I'll dislike NPH's Stephano voice, but hopefully it won't be as bad as the one Carrey did. Scared Aunt Jo: Are the Baudelaires surprised that their aunt is black? That's the only reason I can think of why they wouldn't ask "Are you our Aunt Josephine?" instead of "Do you live with her?". Also, although I know she's probably just scared of mirrors or something similar, I can't help but see the trailer as though she's had her face switched out overnight: Her relatives don't recognise her, and she's shocked when she looks in the mirror. My first thought was that this was the question to Justice Strauss, "Are you married to Count Olaf?", in reverse (they mistake someone who is their guardian for someone who isn't); it does seem like a slightly odd question, but I suppose there may be some context to help understand why they were not expecting that woman to be Josephine.

Did you notice how Orwell looks while throwing darts to Olaf's pic? Her hair's a mess. I wonder if they'll kill her... maybe she survives, starts hating him for not caring about her life and has a bigger role later?
