Stray thoughts
- Still a bit surreal that this old series is getting a second chance in the spotlight. ASOUE was a hit book series but, like many of its day, somewhat in the shadow of Harry Potter. I always worried pop culture may just forget Snickets books.
- Interesting that the Miserable Mill enjoys the status of being the Season 1 finale. Always seemed the most forgettable installment for me.(At least to the extent that the book that first taught me the difference between optimism and pessimism could be!)
- The thought we might be getting Seasons 2 and 3, strengthened by the strong critical reaction, is an enormously pleasurable one. There are so many interesting locations to see within this shows visual style. Books 5 and on are all my favorites!

If they can wow this many people with the first 4 books I can't wait till later seasons when they have some of the truelly great ones on screen.
One thing I was wondering is when they will air season 2( if we get it which I think is almost 100% now) Will they keep the Friday the 13. There is one in October 2017 but that's too early I think. And then there is one in April 2018 which seems so far away. Hopefully since the scripts are written we can get season 2 sooner then later.
I'm so exited the past 2 night I have been dreaming about ASOUE.

Considering that they'll have to make an extra two episodes for Season 2, then depending on how smoothly-oiled the wheels of production are and how ready they are already, a gap of slightly more than a year to April 2018 sounds conceivable, if a non-Friday-13th release would've been in that ballpark area anyway. Looking back on the previous Netflix thread, a lot of the big casting news came in January and filming started in April...

The new trailer looks great! Still hard to believe that the series is going to be out so soon. Love the look of the Poe house. I wonder how the transition from the Egyptian garbs to the costumes seen in this trailer will happen. (If the Egyptian costumes are part of the Marvelous Marriage in the first place.) It also seems like we get to see a scene from the script fragments! (A newspaper flying by the burning mansion)

Depending on when they started filming they could conceivably get season 2 out before the end of the year, they'd have to start up filming in February or March though. Which I don't know if Netflix would want to do that, but it's possible given the fact that with each passing day their child stars are aging. So they might feel pressed to fast track the series.

As much as I'd love Fall 2017, April 2018 seems more likely.

If season one is a hit, I can totally see them doing season 2 asap. As it was said before, they have to finish the show before Klaus and Violet grow up.

Honestly, with all the good reviews that are raining, I think the show is already a hit. Season 2 is coming!!

Yeah I agree probally the April time slot. Season one took 4 months to film (April -August) And they have had a lot of post-production on season 1. They will probally need an added month since it looks like they film a month per book. And season 2 has some heavy CGI scenes (most from book 7) as much as I would love for it to come out in fall I don't think it's doable and I wouldnt want them to rush to lower the quality of the show. So I'll expect an April date next year and if it's earlier I'll be plesently surprised.
I wonder if season 1 is a viewer hit as well if they will want to film season 2/3 back to back. To speed things up that way.

I don't see the need for them to continue the Friday the 13th releases, doing that once was enough for me. I'm more hoping for a Christmas 2017 release, like the movie did. April 2018 feels too far away and not at all special to me.

Just got my copy of Entertainment Weekly and it has their review of the show. They gave it an A- and called it the Must Watch of the Week. I transcribed their review on my review thread. They also had a feature on ASOUE in their Winter TV Show preview. It had a new interview quotes from Daniel Handler and Barry Sonnenfeld and a new still (Olaf with the Bald Man outside his house... at least I think that's new) and a look at two of the sets: the town outside Lake Lachrymose and the Reptile Room. If anyone wants me to scan either in (the review and/or the feature), let me know!

Okay, I attached the Entertainment Weekly scans! The first two are of the article; the third the review.

Is there a free movie website that releases Netflix originals the day after it's been released because I don't have a Netflix account and the thing is that the website I currently use released the Jen K. Movie or whatever which was released on the 3rd like 3-4 days later.
Ahhhhhhhh I want to watch ASOUE over the weekend

Don't you get a month free or something when you sign up with Netflix? So just sign up in time for the 13th, watch the episodes, then cancel your account.
Also, thanks mizbizsav for the scans! It's interesting to hear that casting NPH was one of Handler's ideas.
