It's interesting that the plotline with the VFD book was from the second movie. I like the way the second movie would have handled TMM too, sounded hilarious (It's kind of how I thought it would be handled, with the way the stories were truncated in the first movie there was just no way they'd waste too much time on the weakest book in the series for the second outing). I hope that script leaks one day, it sounds very intriguing. While I still hope he's wrong about the 2019 release date, he's probably right. He seems really in the know, I was wrong about how much involvement he had in the post production of the show. I had assumed that he had just been involved in the pre-production and on set writing and scripting, I definitely underestimated his involvement in the post-production. My bad, live and learn I guess. Sorry gothicarchiesfan , you were right on the money on that one. Based on what he says, it seems like season 3 is pretty much finished (Or at least, whatever is left to do is pretty minor). It does make me wonder what the logic for the 2019 release is? Too, I wonder if the November date may have been true at one point and then changed (hence why we had a couple of actors repeating it). It's interesting that ATWQ is referenced more, definitely makes it seem like eventually that might get adapted too. I hope it does, the Netflix/Snicket universe definitely needs to continue on. It's all good Strangely . I definitely share your desire to see season 3 as soon as humanly possible, but I guess the tie-in book will be some comfort. I would kill for a release of the Daniel Handler's second movie script draft. It sounds absolutely hilarious! I 100% second this. I remember reading in an interview that his sequel draft started with an explanation that most of the 2004 film had actually been altered by "Certain Forces" and that this film (i.e. the sequel) was the real and fully unedited story of the Baudelaires. It would then cut to vignettes featuring (fake) grown-up versions of all the child actors from the first film, who were now leading miserable lives. I remember quite specifically that the Hoffman twins [Sunny] were going to be shown as prematurely aged hags in wheelchairs. It was also (allegedly) a mix between TAA and TEE, with the Quagmires befriending the Baudelaires at 667 Dark Avenue only to mysteriously disappear about halfway through. The rest of the movie was then going to be about the Baudelaires' search for them. I also remember reading in another interview that at one point, Dr Orwell was supposed to have a prominent role but given that Daniel Handler wrote many different drafts of the sequel between 2005 and 2013 I don't know how (or if) it fitted in the other plot details.

Although disappointing the series isn't likely to drop this year - I'm still looking forward to it and the tie-in book.

I'm slightly disappointed with the new likely release date, and I know I'll want to finish the book overnight, but I might just read a spread a day. The one thing Joe doesn't want spoiled for us I will probably accidentally find out anyway.

Aw man, Charles not being in season three is so disappointing also the release date, but Charles! Couldn't they change the filming date for him?!

Ah well, that is disappointing, but I suppose if the book doesn't really have spoilers then that's OK (and working out the secret code after season 3 airs will be fun!). But it will be sad not to have Charles return. 😔

I don’t think releasing season three in 2019 would be a very good idea considering an incomplete history of secret org nations comes out this October and it has spoilers for season three I’m hoping it’ll be released the weekend before Halloween, the 30th or the 31st, or November just not 2019.

Joe Tracz hopes that the End will make people cry. But why bother making an episode for that purpose when an interview on a podcast achieves the same effect?

Yay - I love Tyler & B and their podcast, so hearing that the writers on the show listen, too, makes me very giddy for them!
Just finished listening to the episode with Joe Tracz - the interview was excellent and very informative. It has made me reflect differently on some aspects of the first seasons that I didn't like. And even if I still am not a fan, I can at least understand and appreciate why these changes were made.
I really was counting down to a November release - not just because of the comments from some actors (loved Joe's jab that if there's one thing the series should've taught us, it's not to trust actors!), but because of the Incomplete History release date. Those type of tie-in books do typically come out a month before the premiere, so it all made perfect sense.... Alas, we'll have to wait a bit longer now. Honestly, as long as Netflix properly promotes season 3, I'm okay with that. The idea of the show ending next month was very painful. If we start getting some official news and teasers, then I really don't think the wait until next year will be too bad.
I have a feeling that the new, continuous storyline we'll get in season 3 (akin to the Quagmire parents and Olivia) will be Kit Snicket's journey. I can't wait to see what they do with her and what backstory they may add/hint to with her character.

2019... Well, TIHOSO is still coming out soon... and it won’t spoil much, but rather tease S3... though it will be very tough resisting to crack the code before it comes out... I understand better what they tried to do with Olaf being at his highest point. At first I thought it was weird, because Olaf finds out about the survivor of the fire, and that puts him in a vulnerable position. But then, that raises the stakes for him, and he knows he needs to be very powerful to succeed. Interesting there will be lots of ATWQ references... I’m pretty sure we’ll be getting the bombinating beast in some extent. It’s the most evident conexion between ASOUE and ATWQ. Really wondering how it will be handled, in a way that both keeps the mystery of the great unknown and hint towards the beast. For The End making people cry... well, I guess we’ll have Fiona, the Quagmires, Fernald and Hector disappearance being devastating... As for the added story line... Kit and Dewey is my best guess. And if it’s handled in a similar way to Olivia and Jacques... well, I can already feel the tears!

You've made me curious but I really haven't the time to listen to the whole thing right now, and I'm burning with curiosity.

Basically, the sequel's TMM section was only about half a page long. The Baudelaires went into Lucky Smells and then the film immediately cut to them leaving it, saying something to the effect of “that was crazy, hypnotism and Olaf in drag”.

It’s funny to see how TMM turned out to be the best episodes of S1 when they almost cut it into a joke in the movie sequel. So sad to know that Charles didn’t make it to TPP... I was dying to see him and Sir in the sauna...

An additional explanation for the 2019 release date from a Reddit comment made by one of the podcast's hosts. :Edit: Of course, none of us has a crystal ball, but the November release date never has sat well with me, largely because Netflix very rarely releases two seasons of a show within the same year. I'm guessing that the November release date told to the cast and crew is likely when the show will finally wrap up all of its post-production? On second thought, I think I actually do own a crystal ball after all.

Well, so now... what can we expect? How “early” is “early November”? January? February? March? 🤔

Well, so now... what can we expect? How “early” is “early November”? January? February? March? 🤔 Because Netflix programs their yearly schedule in quarters it's likely to be one of those three months. :Edit: Especially since the first two seasons were also released in the first quarters of their respective years, albeit at very different ends. Q1: (All of) January/February/March Q2: (All of) April/May/June Q3: (All of) July/August/September Q4: (All of) October/November/December :Edit: Just realized that for both seasons 1 and 2, Netflix began their full-on marketing in the quarter directly before the one in which the season aired, so perhaps the tie-in book is just the first step in their season 3 marketing strategy?
