I almost included the sword fight, but I think that is entirely plausible.

The sword fight. Phil surviving and gum of all things stopping a mechanical saw are close seconds.

I voted for "gum stopping the saw," despite the fact that that didn't actually happen, because if you reread the sequence in question you'll find that the physics of Klaus's piece of gum are absolutely unbelievable. It has enough elasticity to stretch to the length of a rope, and is such a powerful adhesive that merely gently landing on a surface fixes it in place with such strength that it can be used to haul a heavy object.

I know; I went back to try to edit the poll after I realized my mistake, but I could not figure it out from my phone. I hoped everyone would understand what I meant. I never found Klaus’s inventing skills with the debarker and gum believable, either.

The fact that the children were put with Sir, who's presumably not a relative, and has no reason for Mr. Poe to ask him.

I've voted for the cloud of smoke, which is very hard to envisage (I mean, he might have a cloud of smoke, but not one so thick his face is never seen) - so much so that Netflix didn't do it.
VFDrama: I'm never sure why people think Sire can't be a relation of the Baudelaires. Bear in mind that by TVV, Mr Poe is trying nineteenth cousins, so Sir might be a fifteenth cousin, say, and Jerome a seventeenth cousin.

So, Charles is Sir's partner, but all he does is cook him meals and do his laundry? Seriously, Snicket? That's not what a business partner does! That's much more of a, more of a, some kind of domestic partnership, isn't it?? Unbelievable, Snicket. Grow up and take a class on business.
