Okay, Skelly Craig , I am including Sunny's climbing escapades because of your comment back in the first one of these polls even though I think Sunny really could have climbed the elevator with her teeth. Perhaps I have unrealistic expectations about her as a character after writing and posting about her for about five months... but no one called me on leaving her secretarial skills out of the last poll, so everyone here must think a baby can be a secretary! |

While Violet's friend Ben being offhandedly mentioned only to disappear into the ether like the rest of the Baudelaires' friends has always vexed me, and the number of times the Baudelaires end up going up and down that elevator shaft gets silly, for me it has to be the doorman. This is an associate of Count Olaf's they've faced twice previously, extensively, and they really can't recognise his voice, or his chin, or wonder what might be at the end of his over-long sleeves? It's stated that the brim of his cap covers almost his entire face, so I'll grant that at least he's trying this time, but considering that the Baudelaires would be so much shorter than him, we have to ask how far down this brim is pulled. He'd have to have practically blindfolded himself. And so for the second time I vote for the Baudelaires failing to recognise this man.
