Look Ash, Lemony started writing the ASOUE drafts during the time of the events. But there is no evidence that he was able to publish. What Babs found was the initial drafts, and from what Lemony wrote and crossed out, he wasn't even sure what exactly he was going to write, whether it was about him, about Beatrice, about VFD or about the Baudelaires. In Lemony's letter to cheesemakers talking about the film zombies in the snow, he made it clear that he hadn't been able to publish yet, since cheesemakers were Lemony's penultimate attempt to publish. This indicates that Lemony tried to publish TBB in several ways and failed. I believe that Miss K went to Prufrock Prep after the publication of TBB. The sinister pair must have died in the Hotel D fire. And Olaf died soon after, so the plan to kill all the parents failed. Carmelita survived the fire and returned to Prufrock Prep. She then published her own autobiography. The man who was a disciple of Genius went to Prufrock Prep after the publication of TRR, but before Prufrock Prep stopped working. When Lemony published TAA Prufrock Prep It had closed many years ago. That's because Prufrock Prep closed between the publication of TWW and TMM (or between the publication of TMM and TAA). So when Lemony talked about the Ball where he was captured, he could say that it had happened many years ago. The ideas stating that Lemony wrote some things, published them, and then added things and forgot to revise them properly lack physical evidence. LSTUA is full of physical evidence for this, but ASOUE's 13 books do not even have physical evidence for it. This demonstrates that Daniel Handler was aware of this writing mechanism, and knew that it was necessary to leave evidence to the reader of which mechanism was used. In the 13 ASOUE books over and over again the only information we have canonical is that Lemony was writing many years ahead of the events narrated. Any denial of this is a non-canonical claim that is intended solely to prove a hypothesis for the convenience of the hypothesis creator.

An important detail. Currently my theory states that Mais K is a volunteer who is not Kit and is not Beatrice, and that Miss K is not the woman in the photo. Miss K is probably one of the volunteers who is quoted at the VFD meeting on the construction of the new secret base, which at the time of the meeting was a recent volunteer. According to Nero's letter, the photo with the woman was taken after Miss K.'s dismissal. The woman in the photo is someone else, perhaps Beatrice pretending to be Nero's secretary.

My headcanon is that Beatrice died in the hotel fire in TPP. The Baudelaires lit the fire that killed their parents. Dark, but that's what I think. That's why we only have confirmation of her dying in a fire in the 12th book.

It's quite possible that the books were written way later, but LS added in what he was currently doing at the time the books happened. So they could still be describing contemporaneous events.

Ash, of all people, I believed you would at least understand and agree to this. Please use your method to calmly analyze the matter. For example, note this excerpt from TSS chapter 3:

You may well wonder why there is no account of Sunny Baudelaire in the first two chapters of this book, but there are several reasons why this is so. For one thing, Sunny's journey in Count Olaf's car was much more difficult to research. The tracks made by the tires of the car have vanished long ago, and so many
blizzards and avalanches have occurred in the Mortmain Mountains that even the road itself has largely disappeared. The few witnesses to Olaf's journey have mostly died under mysterious circumstances, or were too frightened to answer the letters, telegrams, and greeting cards I sent them requesting an interview. And even the litter that was thrown out the window of Olaf's car – the clearest sign that evil people have driven by – was picked up off the road long before my work began. The missing litter is a good sign, as it indicates that certain animals of the Mortmain Mountains have returned to their posts and are ebuilding their nests, but it has made it very hard for me to write a complete account of Sunny's travels.

Seriously speaking ... What is Daniel Handler's obvious intention in writing this? Daniel Handler wanted to show that Lemony was investigating what had happened to Sunny long after the events. Hence we have the narration of what happened to Sunny, a narration that is explicitly made from Sunny's point of view. In other words, Lemony knows about things Sunny has seen and heard, and knows nothing more than that. When was all this excerpt written? Consider the secret letter in TSS. Because of this letter, many people think that Lemony wrote the books shortly after the events recorded in them.

"My dear sister, I am taking a great risk in hiding a letter to you inside one of my books, but I am certain that even the most melancholy and well-read people in the world have found my account of the lives of the three Baudelaire children even more wretched than I had promised, and so this book will stay on the shelves of libraries, utterly ignored, waiting for you to open it and find this message. As an additional precaution, I placed a warning that the rest of this chapter contains a description of the Baudelaires' miserable journey up the Vertical Flame Diversion, so anyone who has the courage to read such description is probably brave enough to read my letter to you. ... I am on my way now to the Valley of Four Drafts, in order to continue my research on the Baudelaire case. I hope also to retrieve the aforementioned evidence at last. It is too late to restore my happiness, of course, but at least I can clear my name. From the site of V.F.D. headquarters, I will head straight for the Hotel Denouement. I should arrive by – well, it wouldn't be wise to type the date, but it should be easy for you to remember Beatrice's birthday. Meet me at the hotel. Try to get us a room without ugly curtains.

So, Ash, when did Lemony write this letter? It was after he described the Baudelaires' going to the secret base. But, according to his own words, himself writing the letter, Lemony had not yet reached the secret base. He wrote: "I am on my way now to the Valley of Four Drafts, in order to continue my research on the Baudelaire case." Evidently Lemony was planning to revisit the places where the Baudelaires were in order to continue writing the book. This revisiting took place many years after the events themselves. The hotel has been rebuilt over the years, that's all. The recipient of the letter was someone else, not Kit. Or the recipient was Kit and Lemony did not know she was dead. Or Daniel Handler made a grotesque chronological mistake. These are the three possible explanations. Believing that Lemony wrote and over-wrote the books is just an easy way out.
