That's not a theory I've seen propounded before, and there is some reason to admire it, I believe. The general presumption otherwise is based on the purported fact that green wood is difficult to burn.

You are right that it can't stay green forever.
I Googled this, and the internet told me lumber dries at a rate of one year per inch. So if the boards were two inches thick, it would take two years to dry. I think that's a pretty decent amount of time.
But maybe when the boards burn, they send up green smoke, like the VFDs in TSS, and it is a signal to other members something terrible has happened.
