The costumes are notoriously amazing, hence the Emmy noms, but i'm curious as to what your most/least favourite costumes are below.
For mine, my favourite is: the Beatrice ball dress, very 1920s which adds to the ambiguous time context.
least favourite: the Esmé faux-fur ensemble, reminds me of an "out" version of 101 Dalmatians

As for Esmé's clothes, I have to say that I love Esmé so much in the series, that it is difficult for me to criticize any of her clothes. Esmé gives life that series in a sensational way. I can say that I felt negatively surprised by her clothes in TSS, but I can't say that I didn't really like it. I just imagined it one way and it ended up being another way. I can say that Lemony's outfit at the masquerade was something of the same kind. But in Lemony's case, I liked that he wasn't dressed in a bullfighter outfit, for a reason that only I realized (I think). And thinking about it made perfect sense to me. He could not be wearing bullfighter clothing there. And I'm glad he isn't using it. I think Ish's outfit at TE was the one I really disliked. I can't explain exactly why. Maybe I found it a little exaggerated. I honor Esme's TPP outfit monthly while she was near the pool. I had a somewhat inappropriate expectation for that part. I prefer not to comment.

My favorite costumes have got to be Esmé and Carmelita's matching pink pin-striped suits. They're just absolutely iconic. Also, even though they changed the colors, I really loved the Prufrock Preparatory School uniforms. The Madame Lulu disguise is also a definite favorite. I'm definitely struggling for a least favorite, though. I'll get back to you

I love the pinstripe suits they were wearing as well. I wish they could have worn matching outfits that combined both of their iconic styles in the books as well! So cute!
Oops. I know I sounded n00bish there, but I just get really excited whenever Esmé and Carmelita are mentioned as a duo. Those were also my favourite outfits, as well as Olivia’s awesome cowgirl ensemble in TVV.

Really love all of the costumes, but a few disappointments: 1. The islander robes(the pink was so random. The shrimp eating sheep was a fun concept but looked ridiculous. Not to mention, if the robes are spun, knitting or crocheted, the robes would either be a uniform color of light pink or have small patches of bright pink. It wouldn't be concentrated at the ends. The idea that the robes were made so that they'd have pink at the ends seems unlikely, given Ishmael's overly utilitarian approach to everything.) 2. The Queequeg uniforms, mostly because I found the shade of red jarring next to all the blue-greens. 3. I understand that this is a show aimed partly at kids, but I still would've liked it if they kept Esme's cabbage dress/swimsuit(I don't remember exactly what it was, just that I liked the concept). The gold dress was fine, but it failed to emphasize just how crazy Esme had gotten by the 12th book.
