How do you pronounce Quagmire? I think it’s pronounced how it’s spelt, but some people I know say it’s pronounced Quogmire. Who’s right?

So you do pronounce it with an ‘a’?

Yes ... But with regard to pronunciation, I think I am the last person who should be consulted to find out what is right. Have you tried google translator?

I pronounce it with a short "A," like this. I think the British pronunciation might use the "Quog" sound.

With my aussie accent a funny sort of quag-my-ya. I think in King's English it'd be quog

i'm pretty sure it's never pronounced quog. i remember when i was a kid i thought KLaus was pronounced "claws." and Punctilio - "punc-til-EYE-o" why do childrens authors pick names that are hard for children to pronounce? i had a similar problem with harry potter names. of course then i got owned by kids at school - but they only knew the right way because they had listened to audiobooks or seen the movies, so really i was the winner in that situation.

I think authors use interesting and unique names so that you don't get generic names mixed up. Hermione and Olaf are easier to distinguish than Andrew and Peter, yanno?

The worst is when everyone has Russian names, I always have to make up nicknames for each character in my head or else everyone is named basically the same unless I look real closely.
lol at "punc-til-EYE-o"

I never finished Anna Karenina for this reason. Reminds me of the chorus to this song: And this is all in your program You are at the opera You're gonna have to study up a little bit If you wanna keep with the plot 'Cause it's a complicated Russian novel Everyone's got nine different names So look it up in your program We'd appreciate it, thanks a lot
