I read ASoUE when I was 9. I’m now 18 and for some reason just randomly got super into it the world again, yesterday. I had started AtWQ as soon as I finished “The End”, but back then I had no idea they were in the same universe and I remember NOTHING about it.
Seeing as Lemony is a character AND Daniel Holder writes as, well, Daniel Holder.. is it safe to assume every book under Lemony Snicket is in the same universe?
If so, what is the timeline for the universe? Where do books like FU13SI fit in? I haven’t read it but I’ve heard that is has to do with a young Lemony solving crimes… sounds like it’s in the same universe.
Lastly, what other books should I check out? I own every book in the ASoUE series as well as The Beatrice Letters, The Notorious Notations, The Unauthorized Autobiography, and I just purchased Poison for Breakfast.

I believe the moderator, a word that here means B. , will change this thread soon, so I'll give you my opinion here. As Resemblance said, asoue, ATWQ, File Under 13, TBL and LSTUA are definitely part of the same universe. The other works under the name Lemony Snicket are the subject of endless discussions. (The short story cited by him are also part of the same universe). I defend the idea that PFB has solved an old problem about the books for young children created by Lemony Snicket: There is a universe in Lemony Snicket is just an author of fiction stories. I had the opportunity to ask Daniel Handler, through our friend Resemblance , if the books for young children made by Lemony Snicket would be stories created by Lemony in just Asoue Universe for small children in that universe. Daniel Handler said he had never really thought about it, although he found it an interesting question. In any case, this attitude by Daniel Handler simply highlights the fact that Books like The Composer is Dead are not part of Asoue's universe. But they were written by a Lemony Snicket who is just a children's fiction author, who fits in very well with the PFB author. The fictional author of PFB appears to be single, childless and and only child. This is very different from Daniel Handler from our universe and Lemony Snicket from the asoue and ATWQ universe. Note: I need to clarify something about LSTUA. There are advanced discussions among asoue theorists involving the canonicity of LSTUA. These discussions are also endless. The concept I most treasure is the one preached by the late Dante : He believed that LSTUA is a work that reflects the time it was written, so the real reason behind the contradictions is that Daniel Handler changed his mind as he released the final books in the series. On the other hand, I advanced this concept and stated that the most interesting thing would be to create an alternative universe called the LSTUA Universe, in which the LSTUA events are considered canonical, and the contradictions could be explained by various means, from mechanisms involving non-reliability from certain narrators to reconstructions and fires that occurred outside the narrative, and the certain survival of some characters whose survival was left uncertain in asoue. I believe Daniel Handler's recent revelation that he made a conscious sketch before writing LSTUA is a point in my view that can be summed up as follows: “It doesn't matter whether LSTUA is canonical or not. Try to understand what Daniel Handler had in mind when he wrote this book, and try to piece together the literary puzzle that this book is, because clearly the author's intention was for this book to be a puzzle to be solved."
