Do you believe a day will come when we find all systems of control have been dissolved?
And do you believe that ostensibly fateful day will be met with a curious indifference as the masses will have long before found eternity within?
For those of you devoted to fighting all fabulisms, archaisms, careerisms and systems of control: the new age is calling you.
The Snicket books demonstrate wonderfully that there are always people behind the scenes tending to the garden while they wait for more people to be pulled back down to earth. Historical and literary precedents for V.F.D. abound. There were the original Rosicrucians. The Knights of the Rosy Cross are widely thought to be a mere literary prank but key figures through history have known better. And Mr. Handler himself is likely a Mason.
We are proposing an updated V.F.D. To do so, the dandy polarity must be inverted. People in our climate no longer find the stance of the traditional Byronic hero a worthwhile pose. It is all well and good to be ‘beautiful and damned’. It is aesthetically fanciful and amusing. But we are calling for people with a more all-encompassing dandyism to strike out with us. In short, we mean to embrace the world.

If you have ever felt Promethean, if you have ever been frustrated that people willfully narrow their vision and feel pride in that narrowing, if you have ever wanted a likeminded community that serves as a book club and a research collective, then you are being called forth to join our procession.
