Shoes In The House

Everyone wears shoes inside their houses here.

I was bought up in a strictly shoes-off household when I was a kid, although I was aware some people wore shoes in the house. In my student houses we would sometimes have them on, sometimes off, same at other student houses.

Now I have my own house, generally me, my flatmate, and guests remove their shoes, although sometimes we wear them in the house if in a rush/heading out, so it's not a hard and fast rule, but generally shoes off

Around here there are families who wear shoes indoors, while there are families who don't wear shoes indoors. More often than not, nobody pays much attention to it. If the shoes are visually dirty or wet, the most common thing is to leave them near the door before entering and put on sandals inside the house. In warmer regions, it is common to be barefoot indoors or with sandals.

How do you guys deal with the cold feet in winter. For me sometimes socks AND shoes is not enough to keep my feet warm.

I grew up in a no-shoe household and I've always taken my shoes off at friends' houses. The only time I've worn shoes in a house has been while looking at houses
these past couple months.

Shoes are extremely painful, so when I'm home I wear bed socks. Everybody else in the house wear their socks too.


Long story short, I walk on my toes and I have the inability to stand/walk flat on my heels. High heels are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. God bless the soul who invented high heels. Thank you, my darling, you literally saved my life. And my feet.
