A few weeks ago I was able to track down a copy of one of the movie's drafts, from April of 2004. However, for various and complicated reasons it cannot be scanned all at but the person who owns it was kind enough to let me read and take pictures. So I thought I would post an extract or two on here in the coming days while I get the deleted scenes masterpost updated and ready, because that's going to take weeks. EXT. DAMOCLES DOCK - LATER
The children are all alone on the rickety dock except for a a FISHERMAN (CAPTAIN SAM) boarding up his windows in a nearby shack.
KLAUS "Aunt Josephine?"
VIOLET Never heard of her. Sunny?
SUNNY (shakes her head) Ana. ("Nope.")
A long beat.
KLAUS (Shot from the First US Trailer/Promotional Still)
Violet sighs.
VIOLET I wish we could just give the money away and get rid of him forever.
KLAUS It's not just the money. It's bigger than the money.
Klaus sees Captain Sam finish hammering a sign that says "CLOSED FOR HURRICANE HERMAN."
KLAUS A hurricane? I've never heard of a hurricane on a lake.
CAPTAIN SAM (not looking up) Big lake.
They turn, surprised he was listening.
CAPTAIN SAM (O.S.) So you're kin to Josephine Antwhistle?
(Promotional Still)
VIOLET Yes, we are.
CAPTAIN SAM Brave woman that one dat one dere.
KLAUS Oh, you know her!?
CAPTAIN SAM No can't say as I do young feller. It's a right blue moon when she comes to town.
KLAUS Then why do you say she's brave?
CAPTAIN SAM Have to be, to live up der aywah.
He points to...
AUNT JOSEPHINE'S HOUSE It's perched precariously at the very top of the hill, supported by stilts on the side of a very high cliff. It looks as if it's going to topple over at any moment.
(Concept Art From The DVD)
AUNT JOSEPHINE'S HOUSE - FRONT DOOR
Violet knocks on the door as the taxi drives off behind them. The door opens a crack and a nervous, pale woman peeks out. AUNT JOSEPHINE.

Wow!! Your constant dedication to this movie never fails to amaze me, GAF. Thanks for sharing this! I particularly like the "It's bigger than the money" moment — and from the production photos you've added it does look as if they filmed this entire scene. I've felt for a while that what the movie is really missing is not big scenes, but smaller ones like this that could give the story more room to breathe.

Wow! Awesome! Glad to see more info about this scene surface. Great find and great work as always.
Sometimes it's nice that I have periods where I have to go away for awhile. I always come back to something exciting!

I always come back to something exciting! This really does look like some kind of super power, and usually linked to the GAF. And speaking of him, what a find!! Thank you again!!
