There's really no way to tell which ones will be discovered in this one at this point in time. And yes, we pretty much know what VFD stands for...

we do? what does it stand for? Volunteer Fire Department. Quigley thinks it is so, and Widdershins hints at it, too.

I wanna know what happened to VFD anyway... i mean... what could have caused such dischord in a volenteer fire department? I reckon it must have been more than that to start with, because when a volenteer fire department breaks apart, they just disband... half of them don't start burning places down...

If we could keep speculation and theories about the general plot of the series out of this thread, please, and in more appropriate places.

“Within that awful volume lies The mystery, of mysteries!” --Sir Walter Scott
I just thought i would point out that it says the book contains the mystery of mysteries. Not the answer to mysteries. It basically means that In the book, the biggest question of all the questions in the books will be asked . It doesn't make sense though. It could be one of those "You know what they mean" type things. Or we could start a whole discussion on if the poem even relates to the 12th book, or if it is just meant to excite us. What do you think?

We seem to have enough big mysteries already. The schism, Beatrice, J.S., the sugar bowl... What new mystery could there be that's bigger than all of those?
And I think that the quote does relate to the book. After all, there's a world of quotes out there - they could easily have picked something else.

Sure, book 12 will deal with the mysteries of the series. Hopefully, it will sort them out somewhat. I imagine that we'll have some questions answered; it's too late to raise more.

There's only ten days (if you count today) till that site opens and twenty-four days till they reveal the name of this Nameless Novel or book 12.

Could you give us more details on this interview tape you supposedly heard it on, such as where you heard it, and what specifically was said?

hehehehe. And I'm sure Handler could find a way to raise an even bigger mystery if he really wanted to. I think that merely means that it contains one of the largest mysteries we've been investigating, most likely revealing it... If it contains the mystery that sort of implies everything about the mystery including its revelation and explanation... Or am I even making sense? *pause*

Containing a mystery, I think, means containing a huge question but not necessarily its answer, but there may be many small clues. The "mystery of mysteries" in ASoUE could be the history of VFD, the schism and its aftermath and such. As I've said before, we'll probably get a lot of VFD backstory, small clues that we must fit together.

Yes.. But I'm sure even though the quote refers to a mystery, that we'll also get answers... It being the second last of a 13 book series and all...

Could you give us more details on this interview tape you supposedly heard it on, such as where you heard it, and what specifically was said? Yes I could. I was searching for a Lemony Snicket site to see if Daniel Handler really was Lemony Snicket. One day about 3 months ago I found an interview tape that said click here to listen to the interview between Daniel Handler and Barns and Nobles. It talked about what he was writing and stuff about his life. Then it got really interesting. Barns and Nobles asked DH if they could give out the on July 27 and he said yes. He said he was already finished with the 12 book and was writing the 13. Then a few minutes later the tape was finished. I am still looking for the site that had the tape but I can't find it.
