I was flipping through the UA recently and found the letter w/the Prospero tickets, and the person who wrote was named Captain S a.k.a J. :oIt's on page 110, if you want to look, but I just thought that was interesting.

Mybe it stands for Captain Julio (Olaf in TWW) or maybe the initials J.S. backwards...

Josephine isn't dead! Lemony didn't SAY that she was dead, only that the sailers found her life jackets. She is a strong swimmer, and may not have eaten the banana at all. Lemony needs to come out and say things if they are true. He never said that Quigley was dead, Duncan & Isadora did, and that was their opinion.

Oh come on. Quigley getting thrown into a secret passage by his mommy is one thing, but swimming away from hungry leeches who have tossed over an entire sailboat for food is quite another. Although perhaps the mushrooms are the clue that they will see her again. Anyway, why would Josephine's reappearance be important anyway? Ike was in VFD, not her. And even if she was she was an awful, irresponsible guardian and I'm sure the Baudelaires wouldn't be filled with joy to see her again. Then again maybe she could prove to Mr. Poe and others that Olaf is truly the villain. Excuse me while I get my opinions straight...

I hoped that she would survive to tell everyone what he did, but wouldn't she have taken her equipment with her rather than letting it sink to the waters? And what's up with all the women surviving? Someone concluded from the Bad Beginning rare edition that Mrs. Baudelaire survived the fire, and now people are saying Josephine's alive. Of course, Lemony CLEARLY states that the men in the Baudelaires' lives(Jacques and their daddy) would never rise up in accordance with Swinburne's poem. THe only male survivor is Quigley.

And I always hoped that by some stroke of fate Jacques was still alive(can't you tell?) but I guess it's not gonna happen, well at least he didn't die an a fire like a few others.
