The fire could mean that The Hotel Denument would be caught on flames or that there would be another fire in the book.

It looks like sea horses to me on the border...

It does vaguely resemble seahorses, but I doubt that's what it's intended to be.
Somebody suggested that the border could be curtains, because Lemony asked Kit, in his letter, to "try and get us a room without ugly curtains". However, what we see of the border could be just about anything; fire seems most likely.

The teaser cover for The Grim Grotto said, 'Art too Depressing to Show,' and walking through a dark watery tunnel has to be depressing, while the teaser for the Twelfth book is desribed as 'Too Awful to Show'.
There is a difference between the words, 'depressing' and 'awful.'
Since the Twelfth cover art is described as 'Awful,' we can safely assume something dreadful will happen, as opposed to something that is just 'depressing.' My guess is that there will be another terrible fire, and someone will die.

What the outside border is called is Nettle of Frankfurt.

I'm back and cool. what are nettles or what ever.
EDIT: I just got done reading the post and isn't it obvious that the border is curtains, haven't curtains been mentioned before?

I zoomed in on the teaser cover and it is the same as the one in the hostile hospital. Same orange spine and same orangish red heart beat monitor.

Actually, if you compare the THH and book 12 spines side by side, you can see that the latter is a bit brighter and more reddish.

Look at the small pictures of the Baudelaire Orphans and the Baudelaire Mansion near the top of the cover. They're the same as the ones from TGG.
And the thorns, yes. The thorns are the same as the ones from TGG, also, although they have had the colour changed.

Aren't the thorns the same on every book but a different color?

I remember blue curtains being mentioned someplace, but it was probably in an entirely different book. TAA, I think, with the fish-themed library.
