It happened to Harry Potter? Why Not ASOUE? I know that Harry Potter was better known before then ASOUE was. But do you think that when the next bok comes out will there be huge posters in bookshops? Will it make the newspaper? Will children go out to get it at midnight? What do you think? Thanks for any replies :-)
P.S. I wasn't sure if I should put it here or in Malignant Movie, but I figured it was more about the next books.

Well, actually I don't know that they line up, but at least some people go buy the books at midnight. I would, if I had a ride...
I live in West Lafayette, Indiana, USA, by the way.

To the best of my knowledge, nobody where I live has lined up at midnight to buy ASoUE books; I'd like to, but I most likely can't. However, Borders puts up nice displays, and when TSS was released the cafe served a "Lemony Snicket smoothie", which I remember being something like melted lemon sherbet. I think they'll have that same sort of hype for book 12, although they may or may not have the smoothies again.

Well, this book is the most mysterious of all the previous ASOUE books.
Waterstones, in England, had huge Olaf posters, in March.

Waterstones, in England, had huge Olaf posters, in March. I remember seeing one of those. I don't think it was advertising the next book, though, but just the series. It'd be pretty difficult to hype B12 in England because the series is pretty obscure here. I only know three people who are interested, and at least two of those people lost interest and never read all the books. As far as I can tell, it's just not very famous here. I doubt they'd open the bookshops at midnight just for the next Snicket book - and if they did, my parents probably wouldn't permit me to go stand in line in the middle of the night although the line would probably be just me.

I can't see any real hype happening. Especially where I live. Nothing interesting happens here at all.

I don't know if there's any parties in bookshops where I live, but if there is, will someone say where?

I would line up at midnight, but my book sotre does not offer that sevice for ASoUe. And besides, the books havealmost always come out on a weekday, when I would be in school. So even if I could, my parents WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO! Grrrr.....

I don't know if there's any parties in bookshops where I live, but if there is, will someone say where? I always buy my book at Borders. Closer to release date, search their site for events and you'll find parties. I don't think Book 13 will be over-hyped. In fact, I don't think the books have received adequate hype at all yet. I would like to see more.

Indeed, if they had a party at midnight at one of my many local bookstores, I would attend. That is, if my parental units would allow me to. I doubt my mother will even consider going, after she came at midnight with me for the release of Harry Potter Six. I don't recall any midnight releases or parties when TGG was published. Though, I'm a new fan, and I wasn't one when TGG was released. So, I probably wasn't paying attention to anything about it.
I concur with all of you who said the books need more hype. I know a fair few people who enjoy the Lemony Snicket books in my state (Good O'l New Hampshire), and would like to see more hype. Still, I suppose I would be the only one in line at midnight. Oh well.
