Okay, I have an idea. For the thirteenth volume, the book would come in a small box, and to open it you had to enter, 'Lemony', or something like that in a Vernacularly Fastened Lock. That would be COOL! But the book would be like twenty dollars then...BUT I'D PAY! SQUEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, but what if you couldn't open it because you didn't know the answer, and you've spent $20 on something you can't even read?

Like, they did a NamelessNovel.com thing, and there was a sticker on the front that said, 'Go to www.blahblahblah.com for VFD code.' That would be NEATO!

I expect that Book 13 will be hyped in a way similar to the current hype for book 12, with a site similar to The Nameless Novel.
A slipcover with a coded lock would be pretty expensive to produce, though. But they could sell boxes with Vernacularly Fastened Door-type locks that you could keep your books in.

Yeah, like they could come seperatley, or you could mail-order a special version with a special, customized, VFD LOCK! THAT WOULD BE COOL! Daniel Handler, if you're here, please take heed!

It could be made into like a diary. The little lock on the side that you have to open with an eye key. And a warning of the front about the book.

That would be awesome. They could do the lock from previous Lemony Snicket Books.

If he means the one in TSS, it was a sort of keyboard-like thing, with wires extending from it and a screen where what you've typed would show up. I'd like a diary with a lock like that, and ideally one could program it to open in response to a chosen word.

The vernacularly fastened door would be truly awesome. Especially if it were customizable, I'd get it, and it could be used for other things than the book too.

As horrorshow as that might be, not everyone has computer access. My ten year old cousin, an avid ASOUE reader, doesn't have a computer and wouldn't be allowed on the internet if she did. I like the idea of this; a mail-order code would be smashing.

The various box/lock ideas are really cool, despite the fact that they'd be horribly expensive.
