I was wondering what you people think is more effective, the TGG approach, where they let out quite a lot of info before the book came out, thus getting us all interested, or the TNN approach: Letting NO info WHATSOEVER out, keeping us in suspense?
My opinion is the TNN approach, I'm much more excited about this book than the last one. Of course, the fact that I don't really like books that take place underwater might have something to do with it, as well as the fact that there's much VFD info to be revealed in Book 12, but... yes. I'm enjoying the wait for 12 much more than the wait for GG.

What was it like for TSS? Aside from the foldable clue thing, was it just like it would be for any other book?
TGG seemed to be treated not too much differently from any other book, aside from the fact that we got to speculate about the title. Not telling us the title at all for B12 seems to have greatly increased hype, so that was effective. And the approach of giving out information very slowly on TheNamelessNovel.com was sheer genius - they're leading us into it day by day, giving us a few tantalising bits at a time. What did we get for TGG? The first chapter early, although that was some sort of Amazon special offer, and a chapter picture or two similarly? This way, it's so much more mysterious.
So, in conclusion: We're kept in suspense, but they are giving out information on a regular basis. Not giving us the title, keeping the cover secret, and stuff like that seems to have created massive hype. And personally, I'm more excited about this one, but that may be partially to do with the fact that, from what we know of B12's plotline, I'm going to enjoy it more than TGG.

What was it like for TSS? Aside from the foldable clue thing, was it just like it would be for any other book? I'm pretty sure it was. They gave out Chapter 1 as an Amazon promo thing, if I recall correctly, but they didn't have the "Art Too Awful to Show" teaser cover. They've done a good job of getting us really excited about Book 12, yes. And I hope it lives up to our expectations.

They did have that teaser cover, but we got the regular cover at least several weeks before the release date. With TNN, they're going all the way.

I think TNN is more affective

TNN is a better approach. With TGG, all you got (although I haven't been a fan of the series for that long) was "The Grim Gr". "The Grim Gr" is nothing but a title speculator. The end of TGG is much, much more intreaguing, with its ripped in half letters. TNN is giving us more of a misfortune expirience: keeping us in suspense in the hopes (that will, of course, be dashed by us loyal Snicket fans) that it will keep us away from Book 12. Or maybe even because they're giving us a miserable expirience; our own personal series of unfortunate events, or should I say clues? Or possibly some eugene combo of these two things.

I think that TNN approach works much better. We were left with nothing, no info at all, and then we hear about this NamelessNovel.com site, thinking we would get the title, ONLY to discover that we wouldn't even get that. And I am going so insane about the whole thing. So yeah.

But for someone that has the patience to read the books (which at times requires alot) but won't want to spend the time going through every single clue which actually requires time and effort to do, they'll give up hope on the title and maybe even the book.

I don't think they will they most likely will give up on the clue searching but not the book or even the series entirely.

I bet on the next book there will be a total lack of info. The ending letter of TNN will be just a few letters, burnt beyond belief or something. And then the book will be released in December of 2006 or something. Aargh! Thinking about it kills me!

Maybe Book 12 won't even have an editor letter, and it'll be implied in the text that it was unrecognizably burned or irretrievably lost, or something.

It certainly will be interesting to see what they've done for the editor letter in B12. Still, it won't be long before we find out.
