I think we should create an official timeline type thing starting from book 1 all the way to book 12. I think this will help alot of people out.

I'm fairly certain the story spans out the months of March and April, roughly 20 days. One factor however, is how long it took Mr. Poe to find another guardian for the Baudelaires, which could have been 1 to even 4 days.

I was thinking a lot longer then twenty days...a few months at least. In the first books, they spent up to two weeks in each place, but not all the days were counted in detail.

In alot of the books, it said they stayed there a long time until...(etc.) I was dissapointed that Sunny didn't cook anything in TPP, because that was something that made the series interesting.

If I remember correctly I think Handler mentioned in one of the later books that the baudelaires spent a semester at Prufock Prep in which case the timeline would be a lot more stretched out.

He said it was a "half semester" which is about 2 months. Most of the earlier books seem to take place over a week or two, so we can conclude that the whole series has taken perhaps four or five months.

Yeah. But when I think of the phrase "Unfortunate Lives of the Baudelaires".. I think of like a while. But really, it was only like a few months. If time had elapsed a year, the Baudelaires would have made comment, "It was a year to this day that..." I would have thought anyway.

They're from the fake Pony Party cover on the flip side of the Autobiography's dust jacket. Why?
